20th Century Studios has revealed a new clip from The Dog Stars, the upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi film directed by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien) and starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley in key roles.

Set in the aftermath of a devastating flu pandemic which wiped out the majority of humanity, the upcoming film follows Hig (Elordi), a civilian pilot living with his dog and Bangley (Brolin), an aloof gun-toting former Marine, as they establish a homestead and confront outside threats to survive the end of the world. However, a radio transmission presents Hig with an opportunity to venture into the unknown in search of humanity.

The Dog Stars' latest clip offers a glimpse of Jacob Elordi's character as he fights for survival, desperate to find new meaning and simple pleasures in a post-apocalyptic world, deprived of hope and humanity.

More on this in our story.

Hig and Bangley are at odds in The Dog Stars' latest clip

As per The Dog Stars' official synopsis, Hig and Bangley have established a homestead to survive the end of the world and the 'survivors,' who are likely inspired by the cordyceps-infected clickers in The Last of Us. In a world where firearms and night-vision goggles are vital tools for survival, Hig finds hope when he comes across a mysterious radio transmission. This motivates him to venture into the unknown on his own in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exists.

The Dog Stars' latest clip features a moment between Hig and Bangley as the former prepares for his journey into the unknown. While Hig is adamant about discovering what lies beyond, Bangley fears for his friend and warns him that he will be treated like an outsider there. The clip offers a stark contrast between Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin's characters, who each take a different approach to survival.

While instinct has become second nature for Bangley, Hig still believes in humanity and wants to fight for the simple pleasures he enjoyed before the world ended.

The Dog Stars clip concludes as Hig drops a brutal truth bomb:

''This world fits you Bangley.''

Hig reminds Josh Brolin's character that while he is a hardened military survivalist born to defend and survive, he was just an ordinary mechanic who fixed things. Leaving Bangley speechless, Hig gears up to venture into the unknown, where he will cross paths with a young medic Cima and her father.

Euphoria star Jacob Elordi and the MCU star Josh Brolin lead The Dog Stars as Hig and Bangley, respectively. The Academy Award-nominated actor Josh Brolin is best known for playing Thanos in the MCU, namely Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Fellow Academy Award-nominated Jacob Elordi has enjoyed a particularly successful year with Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein and Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights.

Golden Globe and Emmy Award-nominated actress Margaret Qualley (The Substance) takes on the role of Cima, the young medic who crosses paths with Hig. While the two instantly form a connection, likely because Elordi's character has 'real coffee,' Cima's father (played by actor Guy Pearce) is highly suspicious of the new intruder in his community. While Cima's father warns her against Hig, she trusts him and the two eventually fall in love.

Rounding out the film's cast are stars Allison Janney (Mom, Palm Royale) and Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, 3 Body Problem) in undisclosed roles.

The Dog Stars is scheduled to be released on August 28.
