The Invite trailer starring Seth Rogan and Olivia Wilde reveals an awkward night that takes an unexpected turn

The Invite trailer begins with Angela (played by Olivia Wilde) tidying up the living room when her husband Joe (played by Seth Rogan), comes in and asks if she bought a new rug just because the neighbors are coming over. She denies that, but the trailer makes it clear that Angela really wants to impress their neighbors as we see her prepare a charcuterie board.

When the neighbors, Pina (played by Penelope Cruz) and Hawk (played by Edward Norton), arrive, Joe isn't happy. As the trailer for The Invite shows, at some point during the dinner, he pulls Angela aside to tell her that while the wife, Pina, is fine, Hawk is a

"weirdo"

Angela also seems to be enamored by the couple, as she says she finds Hawk cool and Pina pretty. The dinner is a mess, as the conversations are awkward, Joe refuses to engage much, and Angela struggles to make the dinner perfect for their neighbors.

Pina then says that we only get a few chances to have meaningful relationships in life, and Joe is immediately cautious of what she's about to say. As if the dinner wasn't already a disaster, Pina and Hawk reveal that they came to the dinner to invite Joe and Angela to join them for something.

While initially it isn't clear what they mean, we soon learn that they want Joe and Angela to join them in sexual encounters. In a hilarious moment, Joe confirms that they are interested in not only Angela but him too. But regardless, they are shocked. The Invite trailer ends with a few glimpses at the sexual encounter the couples share or attempt to share, as we see Pina and Angela kiss.

However, no matter how cool and pretty the neighbors seem, it doesn't look like the night is going to end well. The trailer ends with a clip of Joe opening a wine bottle, and Angela says,

"Sorry, we don't um have people over very often."

This last moment kind of justifies why they are not so good at hosting and should perhaps not be the host anytime soon.
