Netflix's latest true crime documentary, The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part, arrives on September 30, 2026. Directed by Chris Smith, the documentary follows a journalist and an investigator who uncover the truth about a murderer who is infamously called the Black Widower.

Produced by Library Films and NBC News Studios, the documentary is about a Las Vegas man, Thomas Randolph, who married six times, with four wives mysteriously dying. Also known as the Black Widower, Thomas Randolph was sentenced to at least 60 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Sharon, and the man he hired to kill her.

Netflix released the official trailer for the latest crime documentary, The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part. The trailer opens with a disturbing clip where a 911 operator responds to an emergency call. The person panics as he reveals his wife has been shot in the head.

The scene shifts as an experienced journalist shares that the case of Thomas Randolph is one of the most bizarre, insane, and interesting cases he has ever dealt with. Speaking about the case, he revealed Sharon Causse was shot dead; however, the evidence and the husband's statements did not add up. After the investigators dug deeper, they found out that Sharon's husband, Thomas, had six wives and four of them were dead. Thomas eventually became the primary suspect. In a clip from the trailer, Thomas claims,

"I'm a nice guy. I'm cocky, but certainly doesn't make me a murderer."

In the trailer, Thomas Randolph further claims to be a victim rather than a murderer. However, the investigators and the journalist think he is no less than a psychotic person who has manipulated countless people. The journalist claimed Thomas was facing the death penalty, but he played the system. The trailer of The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part ends with Thomas claiming,

"In the end, I am gonna win."

The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part: Who is Thomas Randolph?

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Thomas Randolph was arrested in January 2009, and it took over eight years for the case to go on trial. Sharon Causse was shot to death in May 2008.

Initially, Thomas claimed that she was shot by an intruder in their Las Vegas home. He said that he killed the masked intruder in self-defence. The investigators later found out that the intruder was a handyman called Michael Miller. Miller was hired by Thomas Randolph to kill Sharon, his sixth wife. Turns out, he wanted to collect $300,000 insurance money.

As authorities plunged deeper, they found out that Thomas was married six times and only two of his ex-partners were alive. As most of his wives died under mysterious circumstances, he was infamously called The Black Widower.

The Black Widower went on trial for allegedly killing Becky Gault, his second wife. However, he was acquitted as it was deemed a suicide. He was provided with $500,000 insurance money after Gault's death.

In 2017, he was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of Causse and Miller. However, the Nevada Supreme Court reversed his conviction, saying the jury should not have heard Gault's case, stating the similarities were prejudicial. During the second jury trial in 2023, he was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder and sentenced to 60 years in prison on April 4, 2024.

According to KLAS 8 News Now, Thomas Randolph is serving his sentence at Lovelock Correctional Center. His appeal was rejected by the Nevada Supreme Court.
