Sam Neill's family has shared the unfortunate news about his passing on July 13, 2026, through his official Instagram account. As explained earlier, it was unexpected, but the actor was surrounded by his close ones in the hospital during his final days.

Although the announcement confirmed his passing, no specific cause of death was disclosed in the initial reports. The family, however, made it clear that Neill had remained cancer-free, offering reassurance that his earlier illness had not returned.

It was in 2022 when Neill was diagnosed with stage-three angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. To cure this rare and aggressive type of blood cancer, he initially underwent chemotherapy. Reportedly, the treatment wasn't giving good results so he joined a clinical trial to receive CAR-T cell therapy.
