The Wrecking Crew is about two half-brothers, Jonny and James. While Jonny is a police officer, James is employed at the Navy SEALs. Their father was mysteriously murdered in Hawaii. Both brothers have to come together to solve this crime.

Towards the end of The Wrecking Crew, we realize the real villain of this story is Robichaux. He is a rich casino owner who was interested in the island. His wife died, which made the brothers more suspicious of him. They realize that she was scared of Robichaux. He also kidnapped people close to the brothers for leverage.

He was looking to attract investors in the casino in Hawaii. For that, he needs the help of both the crime world and officials. Governor Peter Mahoe also gets involved.

Walter Hale was a private investigator who was hired by Robichaux's wife. She wanted him to scoop out some evidence against her husband for their divorce. Walter found proof that Robichaux was laundering money. He took the information and tried to leave the area. Walter also sent all the evidence to Jonny. This also triggered the Yakuza gang, who then decided to eliminate Jonny in Hawaii. Both brothers also reveal their uncle Peter's involvement in the scheme.

The Wrecking Crew also showcases Jonny and James in a tussle. The tension goes way back to their childhood. Jonny was a result of an affair between Walter and James' mother. James keeps taunting Jonny as Walter's bastard. However, the two slowly come close while investigating their father's death. The two manage to move past their differences for the mission. While the film is an action comedy story on the surface. It's mainly the story of a family.

The brothers have their differences, and they don't like each other. But they manage to have a strong bond on a deeper level. The trauma they experienced as kids still colors their decisions today. Towards the end, they manage to overcome their fear and insecurities. James agrees to follow Jonny in life. Meanwhile, Jonny manages to control his anger, which cost him his career. He was suspended for killing a drug dealer. But he is now trying to be a changed man. The film ends on a sweet note as the brothers resolve their issues.
