This Avengers theory hints why Steve Rogers might be the creator of Earth-828

We are just two months away from Avengers: Doomsday's December release date. As that happens, several fan theories continue to circulate on the internet about Doomsday. Most of the theories revolve around the cameos, major deaths/revelations, or how it ends. Plot leaks have suggested that Doomsday's Victor von Doom doesn't have the traditional enmity with Reed Richards.

The trailers haven't revealed much about why Doom is fighting the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but leaks have suggested that the Latverian ruler is trying to save the Multiverse from collapse caused by an incursion. This incursion is supposedly caused by the actions of one particular Avenger: Captain America.

If you remember, Avengers: Endgame ended with Captain America/Steve Rogers choosing to travel back in time and live life with Peggy Carter. Several leaks and theories have suggested that this decision plays a key role in this December's MCU theatrical project. This new fan theory also revolves around the same plotline from Endgame.

Steve Rogers staying back in the past in Avengers: Endgame might've accidentally created a new reality:

Endgame ended with Captain America/Steve Rogers dancing with Peggy Carter. The Encore version of Endgame retains this ending but expands upon it. The original 2019 version ended with Peggy and Steve dancing and embracing. Encore expands upon this scene by adding a new scene of Loki interrupting the couple, setting the stage for Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel fan "its_ivanmars" posted a reel on his Instagram stating that Steve Rogers' decision to stay in the past created Earth-828 (the Earth we saw in The Fantastic Four: First Steps). After deciding to stay in the past, Steve stopped HYDRA and even the Cold War.

This change resulted in the formation of the ANSA instead of NASA, the agency that took the Fantastic Four to the space program that gave them their powers. Steve's actions also resulted in the birth of a version of Victor von Doom, who in most realities would have been Tony Stark. While this fan theory makes sense, there are two problems with it.

Firstly, "its_ivanmars" described Earth-828 as an "alternate timeline". If Marvel follows the general comic book terminology (i.e., not limited to Marvel), "alternate timeline" is not the same as "alternate universe". "Alternate timeline" means that someone changed the past, resulting in a new history, but this history is set in the confines of the same Earth. Think Back to the Future.

Marty McFly did not create an entirely new Earth by travelling back in time and changing history, i.e., making his parents fall in love in their young age. The happy ending of the first Back to the Future is an alternate timeline and not an alternate universe. Alternate universe, on the other hand, as the name suggests, is an entirely different universe, and that includes a different Earth as well.

Earth-828 could just be an alternate universe, with its own set of alien planets, different from the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe we have followed until now, including the Avengers movies.

The second thing that disproves this theory is the time travel rules set by both versions of Avengers: Endgame. Both versions confirm that the past cannot be changed. But this theory posits that Steve Rogers completely changed the past. This alone disproves the theory because the mainline MCU continuity established that one can't change the past through time travel.

But one part of this fan theory might be accurate after all.

Steve Rogers might still be involved with Earth-828:

Doomsday leaks have suggested that Steve Rogers and family would be relocated. Avengers Endgame: Encore even alludes to the possible validity of these leaks in the scene in which Loki interrupts Steve and Peggy's dance. In that scene, Loki just offers the couple help but doesn't reveal what the help is.

Several leaks reveal that Loki offers the couple to relocate them to Earth-828. It seems that Steve and Peggy start a happy family on the Fantastic Four Earth. They supposedly live a happy life in this alternate Earth for at least a decade. But this results in an incursion, which kills Doom's family, according to Doomsday leaks.

If this is true, Doom's animosity in Doomsday is especially reserved for Steve Rogers, instead of Reed Richards. But these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt; Marvel has provided many details regarding the plot of Doomsday.
