Nationally recognized trial lawyer Ben Crump is calling out the Chicago woman who called the cops on a Black father and her two sons enjoying pool time in an upscale apartment complex. Taking to Threads, X, and Instagram, the 56-year-old attorney reposted the now-viral video and wrote:“This is ridiculous! A father says he and his children were questioned and had the police called on them at a pool despite showing proof that they belonged there. No family should have to endure humiliation or fear while simply enjoying time together. Children should be making memories at the pool. Instead, this young boy is in tears, watching his parent explain why they belong there.”The video credited to a certain Leo Sullivan shows the man behind the camera talking about the racist treatment he received from his White neighbors.“Okay, so, I’m gonna record this. So, I’m sitting out here by the pool with my children [turns the camera to his two sons]. I’m the only Black man out here. So, the nice White people come out here and tell me if I don’t show them my ID, I have to leave. But no one else has to show their ID. So, now, she’s gonna call the police on me; the police are gonna come in front of my children, and they smiling [turns the camera to the two White women], look at her smiling… Welcome to Chicago.”The man proceeded to tell the woman on her phone that he’s a “resident” in the building, while she continued to ignore him and said she didn’t want to be “recorded.” The individual turned his camera to show White people swimming and others sitting by the pool enjoying the sun.Calling the experience “crazy” the man shows how his teenage son gets up and leaves after being humiliated, while the younger one asks him to go and get his ID and end the ordeal. But he refuses and then asks the boy to “not be traumatized” by the incident and not cry. He ended by saying the experience scarred his children and he planned to pursue legal action.Since the video circulated online, social media users have speculated about the identity of the White woman. Some identified her as realtor Shirl B., while others said she was property manager Claudia B.
