Toie Ashanti, also known as Toie Roberts, took to Instagram on March 29, 2026, to allege that the now late rapper and her partner Lil Poppa's jewelry and bag went missing. Ashanti made the allegation in an Instagram story post, and asked for help from the public, saying that the family has not received any answers:"We are asking for the public's help and attention regarding something very important to us. On the day of Lil Poppa's passing, he had his jewelry secured in his Gayard bag. On that day, the jewelry and the bag has gone missing - and the family still has NO answers."She went on to write in the statement that the incident had happened at a Hilton Hotel parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia and that the family received no answers despite reaching out and asking questions to the relevant people:"This incident took place in the parking lot of the Hilton Hotel off 285 & Viriginia Ave in Atlanta, GA. The family has reached out and asked questions to South Metro Towing on Moreland Ave, Hapeville Police - but there has been no clear information or resolution."Toie Ashanti added that the family was simply looking for the truth and some accountability, and urged anyone with any information to come forward. She said, calling the late rapper by his middle name, Mykel (Poppa's birth name is Janarious Mykel Wheeler):"MYKEL..what’s understood don’t ever have to explained especially to the internet! nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all. our reality changing before my eyes.. i’ve been wondering how could you be so in a rush to leave us so suddenly & torturing.. for us to go on without you in life.."BG @t4ysav_LINKsee ya later, NEVER bye.♾ #afterlifersAshanti went on to tell him that she knew deep down he hadn't meant to hurt anyone, including their child and then addressed their supposed beef, stating that it was just two people trying to figure out life and then talked about how their son had now lost their father and that they had been robbed by his death and that she was not happy with having to grieve him.Finally, Toie Ashanti ended the message by saying that she will look after their son and that they will be fine. She also said she and her son will miss him throughout their lifetime.
