Tom Holland reveals ignoring Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man advice backfires on Peter Parker in Brand New Day

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's lead actor, Tom Holland, reportedly revealed in a global press event that his character, Peter Parker, is avoiding the lesson that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man had taught him in the previous film. The star also highlighted Parker's entry into a dark period at the film's beginning.

The official global press conference featured Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Kevin Feige, Destin Daniel Cretton, Josh Horowitz, and Amy Pascal. During the event, Holland explained that his character dislikes taking advice or asking for help, and this attitude is causing problems in his personal life. However, Holland notes that his character should have learned differently from meeting Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker:

"A lesson that he learned from Andrew’s character in the previous movie is that, you know, sometimes the bravest thing that you can do is ask for help."

The star further revealed that the film's central theme represents a struggle between public heroics and private challenges. Additionally, the production hasn't yet revealed Sadie's character, but they have set the movie's release date for July 31, 2026.

During the press conference, Tom Holland shared insights into Peter Parker's journey in the Phase Six installment and revealed.

"I think you really meet Peter Parker at the beginning of the darkest chapter of his life. You know, to me, the thing I love the most about the film is that it really represents, or it's a cautionary tale for the dangers of living a life alone and not having a community, not having friends."

A few hours ago, Entertainment Tonight reports that the trailer has already been viewed by 1 billion people and set a new record for Tom Holland. During the interview, the star recalled his memories of working on Spider-Man: No Way Home and explained that Andrew's character taught him a lesson about how to ask for help. He further stated that his failure to take the advice is seriously affecting his personal life.

8 years ago on The Jonathan Ross Show, Andrew was being interviewed after the success of his film. There, he revealed that when he was in his mid-20s, he experienced sudden fame through a major franchise. At that time, he struggled deeply with the visibility and attention that came along.

He further explained that he didn't feel like one and didn't experience the pressure of being recognized everywhere. He struggled with the loss of privacy, due to which he found it hard to walk freely in public, enjoy a meal, or maintain normal relationships without being noticed. Finally, he admitted his resistance to fame and rejection of exposure because it felt overwhelming.
