Steven Spielberg's confirmed return and Michael Bay's possibility of joining the next chapter of Transformers

According to reports, Steven Spielberg will take on the role of the executive producer for the upcoming live-action movie of Transformers. He will also lead the creative direction. After the initial talks of the Skydance merger, which became the talk of the town in the world of entertainment, Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, the co-chairs of Paramount Pictures, wasted no time in getting closer to the next project of Transformers.

They contacted Spielberg for a meeting in August 2025, where they spoke about the future of the franchise. After Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein showed the script of the upcoming movie, Spielberg agreed to join forces. The script, which is written by Jason Fuchs, played a vital role in raising the intrigue of both Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay. According to reports, Michael Bay is in early talks to return as the director for this upcoming project.

Some of Steven Spielberg’s notable projects that can be added to your watchlist are Schindler’s List, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Toons Looniversity, Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Jurassic World: Rebirth, etc. It cannot be denied that Michael Bay played a significant role in bringing immense success as the director of the first five movies.

However, after he stepped away from the newer projects, the movies failed to garner the same positive response from the viewers that the earlier movies were able to. Jason Fuchs is known for projects such as It: Welcome to Derry, It: Chapter Two, Big Thunder, etc. As Jason Fuchs’s script drew Spielberg and Bay in, it will be intriguing to see the storyline of the upcoming Transformers movie.
