The authorities are investigating the circumstances behind Mr. A's death and working hard to discover the identity of the subscriber, who allegedly entered into an argument with the victim moments before he ingested poison.

Recent creator deaths in South Korea

In recent times, the South Korean creator industry has been prone to many tragedies, linked to creators' relationships with their subscribers and viewers. South Korea has witnessed many creator deaths in recent times.

On July 13, at around 8:09 am, an unidentified South Korean stock YouTuber was allegedly stabbed by one of his subscribers near a commercial building in Busan’s Nam District. Reportedly, the suspect incurred heavy losses after investing according to the creator's stock predictions, which led to this tragedy. The viewer approached the creator with a concealed weapon and fled the scene after stabbing him. While the unidentified YouTuber suffered serious injuries to his body and face, he was reportedly not in a life-threatening situation.

Additionally, South Korean TikTok livestreamer Yoon Ji-ah was discovered dead on the mountainside in Muju County, North Jeolla Province in September 2025. Reportedly, she was killed 30 minutes after her final broadcast concluded. The authorities arrested a man in his 50s, identified as one of Ji-ah's subscribers, Choi, who wanted to start a business partnership and had donated 100 million won to her.

As the country's influencer industry continues to expand, these incidents have underscored the importance of stronger mental health support, safer online environments and greater awareness of the pressures faced by digital creators.
