President Donald Trump's remarks about Ashley Hinson's transformation took an unexpected turn at a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday. Speaking at the Five Flags Event Center ahead of the midterm elections, Trump took another detour while rallying support for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Ashley Hinson.

According to The Daily Beast, Donald Trump brought up Hinson's weight-loss journey, recalling how she looked when they first met and praising her for getting into shape:

“I knew Ashley for a long time, and she was a little bit heavier, okay? She was. And she put herself—she knew what she was doing. She knew the weight that was on her—really, literally, the weight.”

Trump's remarks did not go uninterrupted as an anti-MAGA protester in the audience disrupted his speech, right before the President's 'punchline.'

Donald Trump was interrupted by a protester during the Iowa rally

Donald Trump's remarks about Ashley Hinson's weight-loss journey did not end there. He continued rambling on about the Republican U.S. Senate candidate's transformation and praised her for getting into shape the 'old-fashioned' way:

“And she knew the importance of what she was doing, and she went out—the old-fashioned way, too. Not with, you know, give me a shot."

Trump's remarks caught the attention of one of the protesters, who seemingly interrupted the President's speech. As the Iowa crowd diverted their attention to the protester, Trump advised them not to be bothered by the paid protester:

“Oh, don’t bother. They’re paid protesters, don’t worry. They go away quickly. They’re like a gnat. They’re like a little fly.”

As the crowd erupted in a 'USA' chant, Trump continued, saying that these protesters are paid $250 by George Soros and are 'two or three' per rally. While the interruption briefly took the conversation away from Hinson's weight loss, Donald Trump returned to the subject to deliver his 'punchline.'

Revealing Ashley Hinson's secrets, Trump said that she went on a regimen and got into shape because she understood the importance. Capping off his comments about Hinson's weight loss, Trump transformed the moment into an unusual method to rally support. Calling Hinson to the stage, Trump said:

“I thought she was great the other way, but she put herself in shape, and she did that for you. She knew the importance, and I think it’s great.”

The former anchor at KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids has been serving as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 2nd congressional district since 2021. Trump's recent rally in Iowa was to gather support for Hinson, the Republican nominee to replace retiring Republican incumbent Joni Ernst. While the President's speech covered several campaign issues, his personal remarks about Hinson's appearance became one of the more unusual moments of the rally.
