Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison had pushed for increased UAP transparency after the Pentagon found no evidence of extraterrestrial beings. While speaking with NewsNation's Chief Washington correspondent, Blake Burman, Burlison said,

"I think that we owe it to the American people to shed light on the expenditures, all the money that's being used to investigate these matters. This needs to be done in a transparent way."

In March 2024, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office or AARO published a report titled Report on the Historical Records of U.S. Government Involvement with Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Volume I. The report concluded that there was no verified evidence of alien origin.

Eric said that lawmakers had approached the issue carefully and explained that they need additional resources. He pushed for the development of a select committee so that the dedicated staff working in Pentagon could focus entirely on the effort.

The Missouri Congressman had called for greater UAP transparency after the Pentagon found no evidence of extraterrestrial life. He stated that the American people deserve transparency and should know about the spending and resources being used to investigate these matters.

Burlison further stressed that the process should be carried out publicly but carefully and further added that additional resources would be needed to ensure the work is carried out responsibly. Eric said that the government needs to develop a committee so that the dedicated staff working there could focus on the issue full-time. He said,

"We need to have a select committee so that we can have the staff in place who are dedicated to this cause."

He pointed out that Tim Burchett, Chairman Comer, and other members of the bipartisan UAP caucus, including both Democrats and Republicans, were already backing the initiative.

The congressman also referred to a recent Pentagon report that challenged David Grusch's testimony and rejected claims of a secret crash retrieval program. As per the report, AARO determined that the alleged hidden UAP reverse-engineering programs described by interviewees either didn't exist or were misidentified national security programs unrelated to extraterrestrial technology.

Push for UAP transparency: Burlison is waiting for the speaker's response about the formal letter he sent him

While speaking with Blake Burman regarding reaching out to the speaker, Burlison said,

"We've reached out to Mike Johnson. I think that this is the next step, to send a formal letter. I'm lucky to have other colleagues that are part of the UAP caucus. We're all taking this matter very seriously."

Later, he added,

"Hopefully, we'll get a response from the speaker."

Burlison mentioned that he remained unconvinced because officials were not fully transparent with lawmakers during classified briefings. He argued that they had opportunities to present evidence and explain the purpose of the program's special access. However, they had chosen not to provide those details to Congress.

The congressman said it was time for greater openness and accountability and clarified that the current activities of the programs should be shown to the lawmakers. He continued to say that if the programs truly benefit Americans and use taxpayer money responsibly, then there should be no reason to keep that information hidden.
