We predicted Avengers Endgame: Encore's Doctor Doom mask scene in April, and we were right

Avengers Endgame: Encore is playing in theaters across the world. One of the things that’s discussed about the re-released version of Endgame is its expansions on the 2019 movie. Encore was marketed as a version that bridged Avengers: Endgame with Avengers: Doomsday, which releases this December.

These additions came in the form of a scene that was expanded upon, i.e., the scene between Loki, Steve Rogers, and Peggy Carter. This scene occurs right before the start of the credits. Apart from the scene featuring the three characters, Avengers Endgame: Encore also includes two mid-credit scenes and one post-credit scene.

Of these, it is the post-credit scene of this re-released version that we at Soap Central predicted.

We published an article about Avengers: Endgame’s re-release, called “Avengers: Endgame - 5 reasons why you shouldn't miss the MCU epic when it re-releases shortly before Doomsday” on April 17, 2026. In that article, the third point, “Set up for Avengers: Doomsday”, speculated about the post-credit scene in the new version. The speculation read:

“But fans believe that the re-released version will add a post-credit scene and retcon those sounds to be that of Doctor Doom creating and putting on his armor, setting up Avengers: Doomsday.”

Now that Avengers Endgame: Encore is playing in theaters, the post-credit scene has the exact same scenario. It should be noted that we were not the first to speculate the same, though. Fan circles were filled with speculation that the exact scenario would play out in the post-credit scene of the re-released version of Endgame. We were just one of the many to speculate about the same thing, though.

What do the expanded scenes mean for Avengers: Doomsday?

Most of Avengers Endgame: Encore plays the same as the 2019 movie. It is only in the closing minutes that we get the new scenes. The very first scene Encore expands upon is the moment Steve and Peggy are dancing. The couple is interrupted by Loki, who knocks on their door and offers them help.

Several Doomsday leaks have suggested that Steve created a branched timeline by staying back in the past. The leaks have suggested that Loki offers them help by relocating them to Earth-828 (The Fantastic Four: First Steps Earth). This relocation results in an incursion that supposedly kills Victor von Doom’s family. If this turns out to be true, Doom might be hunting down Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday.

The next addition is the first mid-credit scene, which focuses on Bruce Banner after Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In this scene, Doom manages to mysteriously invade the underground bunker Banner is imprisoned in. Then, the Latverian ruler abducts Bruce Banner, confirming the Hulk's presence in Avengers: Doomsday. The second mid-credit scene is about Mobius observing the collapse of the multiverse as the TVA detects 3000 incursions.

There is no post-credit scene in the original 2019 movie. However, Encore expands upon the scene. As we hear the familiar metallic “pings”, we see Doom creating the Doctor Doom mask, much like Tony Stark creating the Iron Man mask inside a cave in the 2008 movie. Then, the camera cuts to Doom’s masked face, and the screen goes black.
