While Aniya did not name-drop her famous father, fans were quick to discover that she is the daughter of Donnell Harvey, a retired professional basketball player who previously played in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns.
With renewed attention on the Harvey family thanks to Love Island USA, interest in Donnell Harvey's financial standing has surged. Although exact figures have never been publicly disclosed, sources like Hoops Hype report that Aniya's father earned about $3,445,639 in salary during his NBA career.

A look back at Donnell Harvey's career as an NBA player
Love Island Season 8 Aniya's dad, Donnell Harvey, was named the consensus 1999 national high school player of the year at Randolph-Clay High School in Cuthbert, Georgia. His college basketball career kicked-off when he played for coach Billy Donovan's Florida Gators men's basketball team during the 1999–2000 season at the University of Florida. However, he lost his starting spot to another player when he returned home due to homesickness, paving the way for his professional career.
In the 2000 NBA draft, Donnel Harvey was picked by the New York Knicks with the 22nd overall pick. Following this, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks (where he earned $862,560 in year 1 and $927,360 in year 2) and to the Denver Nuggets in February 2002 (where he earned $992,040). Harvey was then traded to the Orlando Magic in September 2003, only to be traded to the Phoenix Suns in December 2003 (where he earned $663,679 in salary).
Love Island Season 8 Aniya's dad then played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce from 2004 to 2005 and the New Jersey Nets in 2005. After playing his final game in February 2005, Donnell Harvey left the basketball world behind in 2014.
According to reports, Harvey continued to play basketball internationally after a successful NBA career. He played for various leagues in China (with Tianjin Ronggang), Puerto Rico, Turkey, Italy and the Philippines, adding significantly to his overall career earnings.
According to a local Georgia station, Harvey started an after-school basketball program for elementary school children. He discussed this initiative as:
''I implemented my youth program to really just maximize a young kid’s opportunity. I want to make sure they’ll be able to get a chance to experience somewhat the same thing I have, and at least have the opportunity to move forward.''

The Love Island Season 8 contestant played collegiate volleyball at Florida Atlantic University while studying Computer Science.
In her interview with People Magazine, Aniya revealed that she hopes to find love on the show and advised her fellow Islanders to be authentic throughout the experience and try to build genuine connections with both the audience and potential romantic partners.
