Gypsy Rose Blanchard is now mourning the loss of her partner, Ken Urker, who was found dead in his bed at his Raceland home in Louisiana on October 1, his 34th birthday.

Blanchard exclusively told People Magazine that Urker succumbed to an overdose.

“I don’t know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good state of mind lately. I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard further claimed:

“Ken endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit. The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure. I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment.”

Ken Urker received backlash after an episode of the Lifetime docuseries Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup portrayed him as controlling and manipulative. It showed Blanchard and Urker at a restaurant in her early weeks of pregnancy when he seemingly pressured her to try food she didn’t want and embarrassed her in front of the restaurant staff.

Despite the portrayal, Gypsy Rose Blanchard described her late partner as an “amazing” father and her “forever” soulmate. She added:

“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase… Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora. She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us. I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.”

Exploring further the scrutiny received by Ken Urker amid Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s mourning

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 35, was convicted of the fatal stabbing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. She conspired with her boyfriend, who did the killing at her mom’s home in Springfield, Missouri, in June 2015.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was originally charged with first-degree murder but later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to ten years in prison. She was released on parole in December 2023, after serving nearly eight and a half years.

While incarcerated, Blanchard connected with Ken Urker, who even proposed to her in October 2018. They later called off the engagement but reconciled in August 2019. Eventually, they split and remained out of touch for many years, during which Gypsy Rose met and married Ryan Anderson.

Four months after she was released from prison, Blanchard and Anderson announced their separation and soon finalized their divorce. Back then, she wrote on her Facebook page:

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved into my parents' home down the bayou.”

Thereafter, Gypsy Rose Blanchard reunited with Ken Urker, and in December 2024, they welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker.

In July 2024, her ex-husband Ryan Anderson claimed in a TikTok livestream that he missed Gypsy Rose Blanchard and that Ken Urker was in the relationship for publicity. Anderson also apologized to Blanchard for getting into a heated text exchange with Urker earlier in the day.

“Sorry, Gypsy, for fighting with Ken over text. I asked how you were because I am genuinely curious how you’re doing; we are going through the show thing, and I am curious about you. Is what it is; I can’t help it. I do still care whether you want me to or not,” Ryan said in the livestream.

Anderson said he celebrated the third anniversary of their first meeting on July 2 and “shot fireworks,” as he did back in the day. He explained:

“Yeah, I need to move on, but guys, I have my moments where I miss her, and today is one of them. Because, like I said, I met her three years ago for the first time. We talked for a year and like a month before I got to meet her.”

Ryan Anderson further mentioned:

“If Gypsy was just my girlfriend, I get it completely. But we were legit married for a year and eight months, like. Communication between us really just stopped. Even after she left, we talked a lot. So, you know, it’s hard for me. It’s hard for me now that the show started; communication between us is not what it was. It’s difficult.”

Anderson also described Urker as a “p*nk” and admitted not liking his ex-wife’s boyfriend. He added:

“That’s why you came back, fool. You saw all the attention she was getting.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s ex-husband urged his followers not to be “against” her but to “support” her instead.

“I think Gypsy’s great, Gypsy’s amazing. I still have all the love in the world for Gypsy. I’m not gonna say anything negative about her even if I want to or even if I feel like she deserves it… I have too much respect for her,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, around the same time, Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared during a YouTube Q&A session:

“Life is too dang short to be sad or feel trapped by anything in your life. I was in a marriage that I wasn’t happy with, and I knew that my heart was elsewhere. And so, I followed that. I am the happiest I’ve ever been.”

The first season of the Lifetime docuseries portrayed Ryan Anderson as manipulative, just like it did for Ken Urker in the next season. In fact, Urker and Blanchard attended couples therapy during her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, in 2025, she told People Magazine that there was a paternity dispute with her ex-husband, despite confirming on social media that her daughter’s father was Ken Urker. Gypsy Rose Blanchard explained:

“We're still dealing with some things wrapped around the paternity, believe it or not, getting the paperwork finalized for that. So, it's like I took the test before she was born, and I posted that Instagram that shut down all the rumors of who the father was, so it was clear. But then you have the court proceeding part of it; you have to follow up on. And so that is currently what we are dealing with. So, Ryan is not out of the picture yet.”

That year in May, TMZ leaked the text exchange between Ryan Anderson and Ken Urker. The former accused Gypsy Rose Blanchard of “doxxing” his contact details, but it was Urker who denied the allegation on the other end. This is when Anderson used a series of slurs at Urker and wrote:

“Let her talk. Oh, yeah, you scared of that… Now you text for her…”

Ken appeared to be unaffected by the text and replied, “Block.”

Back then, sources told TMZ that Anderson considered it “unfair” that his ex-wife called him names on her show, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup and “set out to destroy him.”

“He bites back… He feels this is another attempt to make him out as a bad guy, and he's not,” the source added.

Around the same time, fans of the show claimed online that Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker lost their “spark” as a couple. But the woman insisted they were trying to reignite the romance, and Urker was seen going shopping for an engagement ring. In that same episode, it was revealed that the paternity dispute was resolved and Aurora’s dad was Ken.

Now, in the wake of Ken Urker’s death, Gypsy Rose Blanchard told People Magazine:

“There are no words that can express the depth of this loss. I ask for privacy and compassion for our daughter, our families, and everyone grieving Ken during this incredibly painful time. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.”

TMZ first published the news of Urker’s passing. The local authorities confirmed to the outlet that the sheriff’s deputies responded to Urker’s home around 6:15 PM, and he was found deceased upon arrival. The case is currently under investigation.
