Lily Allen’s health updates explored

Lily Allen recently drew attention due to a viral infection, because of which she had to cancel her Auckland, New Zealand concert.

Allen has spoken about several health struggles, including mental health challenges, eating disorders, an adult ADHD diagnosis, and her recent ailments, which forced concert cancellations.

In a recent interview with The Times, Allen described herself as “just happy, in a good place” after West End Girl's commercial success. She noted her sense of liberation and agency as a single mother supporting her two teenage daughters, saying that she no longer needed to be “taken care of.”

Lily Allen shares daughters - Ethel Mary Cooper (born in November 2011) and Marnie Rose Cooper (born in January 2013), with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper. She also previously experienced the stillbirth of a son named George in 2010.

Allen later married David Harbour on September 7, 2020, in a Las Vegas ceremony officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator at the Graceland Wedding Chapel. They separated in February 2025 after four years of marriage. Around this time, Allen checked into a U.S. trauma and treatment center following the breakdown and emotional turmoil of her marriage.

On her BBC podcast, Allen explained her struggles with addictions and self-hatred, and said:

“I did lots of group therapy and some individual therapy. I just needed some time and space away from everything, and I did a lot of shadow work, lots of work about my inner child stuff, and all the good s---.”

Allen also shared her long-standing struggles with bulimia and eating disorders, noting periods where she lost her appetite, and added:

“I obviously am hungry, but my body and brain are so disconnected from each other that my body…the messages of hunger are not going to my body to my brain.”

In April 2023, Lily Allen revealed that she was diagnosed with adult ADHD after moving to the United States. She noted that the condition runs in her family and that the diagnosis helped explain lifelong traits. As a result of her diagnosis, Allen explained that she switched off social media because scrolling would make hours slip away.

Allen told The Times:

“I’ve actually just been diagnosed with adult ADHD. I’ve had to completely switch off social media because as soon as I look at it, it can be hours of my day gone.”

According to Cleveland Clinic, ADHD stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. It’s a neurodevelopmental disorder, and symptoms begin before a person reaches age 12. It includes fidgeting, difficulty paying attention and losing things.
