Sky Ferreira recently accused Charli XCX of using her old demos on the Wuthering Heights soundtrack album without proper credit.
The 33 year old singer is credited as a feature artist, co-writer and vocal producer on the track Eyes of the World from XCX's Wuthering Heights soundtrack. The drama ignited after Ferreira responded to a fan’s Instagram post, implying that her unreleased tracks from around 2015 and 2018 were used in the project without full credit.

Sky Ferreira first caught attention when she responded to an Instagram meme joking about Charlie “dragging” her into the studio for the Wuthering Heights soundtrack to record her “old songs.”
The situation escalated when a user named @skyferrori or Leon mocked her income sources in a post shared on his X account by reposting her Everything Is Embarrassing video. This was seen as a shade which implied that she doesn’t release new music often.

Understanding the controversy between Charlie xcx and Sky Ferreira
When an X user named Leon shaded Sky Ferreira over her source of income she took to his Instagram page and responded in the comments on his latest post.
His post read:
“me when i’m the mexico city twinkprint”
She clapped back at his remark by stating:
“Someone sent me your Instagram account. I toured for years. I work. I hate to break it to you, but your favorite artist records my old songs. I hope that answers your question. Xoxoxo”
Leon shared her response on his official X account. Many users slammed Ferreira for her response to the user, calling her "rude." They also called her for shading Charli xcx in her comments.
In the same Instagram comment thread Sky Ferreira addressed the user’s later deleted screenshot. He reportedly shared a text from an “industry insider” claiming details about her demos being used on tracks like the intro to Chains of Love. She responded by saying:
“Your industry ‘insider’ is wrong. Close but wrong. I’m not going to get into it but it was definitely more than an intro. I have proof of everything with dates. It isn't worth the trouble bc I know how the world works.”

Sky Ferreira then continued in a long statement in the same thread expressing frustration with the situation about being “dragged & humiliated” and how it dredged up her past trauma. Referring to her 15 year ordeal with Capitol Records, she wrote:
“No one “saved” or helped me. My life was destroyed for over 10 years & it’s a public joke. Publications etc. It isn't funny. It allows people to disrespect & take advantage of me, or to manipulate multiple situations based on their perception of me.”
Reports stated that Ferreira has spoken about facing sexual assault as a child twice in her life. In a 2013 interview with Rookie magazine, she shared that his trauma caused her to change her personality in an attempt to stop the pain. She has described being groomed, manipulated and facing misogyny within the industry, stating that she was treated poorly by producers in her early teens.
XCX and Ferreira have collaborated on several projects in the past, including the 2019 track Cross You Out from Charli's album Charli. They reunited in 2026 on Eyes of the World from Charli's Wuthering Heights soundtrack.
The recent controversy has strained their relationship with Ferreira shading Charli indirectly on Instagram. Charli has yet to make comments on the situation; however, her management team has emphasized that all credits were finalised and formally approved by the appropriate parties before the album’s release, framing it as a standard industry collaboration rather than misconduct.
