DJ Akademiks has slammed Jay-Z after he dissed Nicki Minaj in a recent freestyle at Roots Picnic.

Akademiks shared a series of posts on X, addressing the Roc Nation co-founder’s lines at several hip hop stars, including the Super Bass singer. He wrote:

“What Nicki Minaj kid did to jay z? This ain’t hov like.”

In another post, DJ Akademiks pointed out that in earlier interviews, the billionaire rapper opposed the involvement of children in rap beefs but he contrasted his own statement by targeting Minaj’s family.

According to the reports, Jay-Z headlined the 2026 Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30, 2026. During an acapella freestyle segment, Jay-Z delivered a 4-minute diss rap targeting Nicki Minaj, Drake, Dame Dash, Tory Lanez and DJ Akademiks.

He took jabs at Minaj, which stemmed from their ongoing tensions, rapping:

“That lady back on that stuff, she sounds like she’s in love with em/Her Ken(Kenneth Petty) can’t even… pick they kid…..enough of them.”

DJ Akademiks reposted Kanye West’s attack on Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s children

DJ Akademiks recently called out Jay-Z after he dissed several hip-hop figures like Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West, among others in the music industry.

The 56 year old record executive’s comments come after Drake called multiple shots on the rapper in his new album, Iceman, most notably on three tracks: Janice STFU, Whisper My Name, and Make Them Pay.

Amid the controversy, Akademiks reposted screenshots of West’s earlier comments on X where he ranted about the Empire State of Mind rapper’s kids. His post read:

“Ye on Jay Z and his kids "Having r****ded children is a choice"

In March 2025, the 48-year-old record producer posted controversial remarks on X targeting Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s then-7-year-old twins, Sir and Rumi Carter. West’s posts included explicit language claiming the children were “r****ded.” He referenced artificial insemination and suggested outcomes were a “choice.” He posted:

“Wait has anyone ever seen Jay Z and Beyoncé’s younger kids? They’re r****ded. No like literally. And this is why artificial insemination is a blessing. Having r****ded children is a choice.”

West deleted the post but later reposted, clarifying that the deletion was not due to regret but to preserve his account. His post read:

“I need everyone to know that I took the post about Jay Z and Beyoncé’s family down because there was a possibility of my Twitter being cancelled.”

DJ Akademiks interviewed the Gold Digger rapper in late March 2025 in which he defended his X posts. West questioned whether they represented one of his “worst” statements or, conversely, one of his “best or strongest.” He later issued an apology to Jay-Z in April 2025, on X in a now-deleted tweet, which read

“I’m sorry Jay Z. I be feeling bad about my tweet but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family but when I needed family on some real s--t none of these rap n----s had my back.”

Jay Z recently called out Kanye West during his freestyle performance at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. Addressing his past criticism, he rapped:

“My children is some of them, have you n****s no shame? Y’all trying to get under skin, I really get under skin. Ask Un how I’m playin. Y’all thoughts with your thumbs again. Everybody thinks they’re the ones insane. You’re no maniac.”

The New York-based rapper’s remarks were seen as a rebuttal to West’s past controversial remarks on his family. He also dissed Nicki Minaj, generating backlash from her fans who noted that the diss was a direct response to Minaj’s recent criticisms of him and Roc Nation, after she reportedly accused the rapper of sabotaging her business deals.
