Who is NFL star Trey Smith’s older sister, Ashley Smith?

Kansas City Chiefs lineman Trey Smith’s elder sister, Ashley Smith, has gained attention after she reportedly caught the bouquet at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.

Ashley joined her brother as his plus one for the event. Style by Cydnee Kinslow, she wore a black off-the-shoulder gown with a glittering bodice and a thigh-high slit. She completed her look by donning a beaded necklace, strappy heels and a clutch. Trey donned a black suit with an embellished rhinestone jacket.

Ashley Smith is a respected sports executive and leader in the NFL, serving as the Manager of Player Engagement at the NFL League Office in New York City. She and Trey are the children of Henry Smith and the late Dorsetta Smith. Dorsetta tragically passed away from heart failure in 2015. She was their biggest supporter.

Following their mom’s demise, Ashley Smith played a significant role in Trey’s life, acting not only as his big sibling but also as a mother figure in his life. She has been heavily involved in his football journey, including helping coordinate his recruitment, supporting him through college, and later celebrating his NFL successes. She played a key role in organizing the annual Trey Smith Football Camp in their hometown.

When the sibling duo lost their mom, Ashley was 24 years old, and her brother was 15. Describing his mom, Trey told CBS News that she was the “epitome of selflessness, you know, in terms of helping other people in times of need.” Ashley said:

"She left a legacy of faith, of love, and also I call my mom my dream incubator. We would crawl in bed and just talk with her about our goals and our dreams. I would say that we think about her every single day and are really just focused on honoring her memory.”

The NFL leader attended the University of Tennessee where she worked in the athletic department. During her time at the university, she served as a student manager for the Lady Vols women’s basketball program from 2009 to 2013. This placed her directly under the legendary Coach Pat Summitt in her final years before retirement and her passing in 2016.

Speaking with the Jackson Post News, Ashley recalled telling Joan Cronan, then athletic director of the University of Tennessee women's sports, that if she had the opportunity to work with Summitt, it was “a done deal.” Sharing her moments with Summitt, Ashley added:

“All of us managers would sit in a conference room with a large load of Lady Vol merchandise that she had to sign, and we had an assembly line set up with each person having their own job that centered on Coach signing the merchandise and people either setting it up to be signed or making sure it was properly packed after that signing.”

Ashley Smith had an “incredible experience” working with Summitt, who taught her to treat everyone with respect, no matter how successful you become in life.
