Camille Corbett is a comedian, writer and artist. Corbett is from Atlanta, Georgia and is a Fulbright Scholar, as well as a member of the Writers Guild of America and the Animation Guild. Camille Corbett recently worked on the character of Captain Durag in the Disney show Hey A.J.! . This character, a Black Superhero, has ignited controversy. The controversy seems to stem from the stereotypical characterisation and the usage of clichés. Some netizens seem to have taken issue with the fact that the character was introduced during Black History Month.The backlash has seen netizens call for the show to be canceled. Disney has also reportedly taken down parts of the clips. Following the start of the controversy, Camille Corbett has released a statement, in which she said that she made the character to represent her culture in the superhero genre:"I created the character Durag Man, now known as Captain Durag on the Disney Show, Hey AJ and I’m just finding out people are finding it problematic? I just wanted our culture to have a superhero of its own!"Corbett is associated with the various stand-up, improv and associated scenes such as Blackverse, Hollywood Improv, and more. Camille Corbett is also known for being The Witty Girl and she posts her own music under that name. Her YouTube channel is also known by that same name.In her career as a writer, Corbett is known for writing on projects produced by Netflix, Disney, and more. She wrote for the show Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, Bref as well as Twisted Sisters. She also wrote, produced and acted in a pilot, Crystal & Chelsea. The pilot is available on Corbett's YouTube channel. She has also been, as per her website, the recipient of Panavision Grants a couple of times.
