Veteran actress Donna Mills is clapping back at her online critics who accused her of wearing “too much makeup” for her age. On April 5, Mills, 85, appeared on an Instagram Live and addressed the “comment” while sporting a blonde hairdo, a black leather jacket, a matching top with a deep neckline, a pair of blue denims, and prominent makeup.

“I guess I didn’t get the memo,” Donna laughed before showing a drastic, makeup-free transformation.

The Knots Landing star was seen with salt and pepper hair, lines on her forehead, wrinkled cheeks, and gold and slim metallic-frame glasses dropping down her nose – all indicative of her actual age.

Donna Mills also wore a Victorian-style frilly white blouse and a pearl choker to complete her look. Thereafter, she turned to the camera and uttered while letting out a chuckle:

“Did you want me to look like this? Sorry, not sorry!”

She returned to her leather-jacket look and further mentioned:

“I like the way I look. This is my style. And style doesn't have an expiration date, does it?”

For those unaware, Donna Mills is the mother of a 31-year-old model, Chloe Mills.

Following her recent livestream, Ms Mills captioned her post:

“I said what I said [white heart emoji] #style # ageing #makeup #clapback #armchairwarrior.”

All you need to know about Donna Mills’ daughter

According to IMDb, Chloe Mills was born on September 12, 1994, and adopted by Donna Mills four days later. For the first seven years, the Play Misty For Me star raised her daughter on her own.

However, ever since she began a relationship with her now-longtime partner, Larry Gilman, in 2001, the couple has raised Chloe together.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 2022, Donna Mills revealed:

"I was very concentrated on my career, but at a certain point, I realized there was something missing — it was a child. So I went after it. By that time, I was 54 and people said, 'You're going to be so old [to] have a little toddler running around.' I never felt that. I never felt older than the other mothers who were probably in their 20s."

She also mentioned that women who wanted to “give to their careers” should choose to have a child later in life.

During one of her later appearances on The Tamron Hall Show, Donna Mills noted:

“I’d done things that I wanted to do. I knew I had a lot to give a child and I wanted to do it. I was jealous every time I saw a kid run up to its mom and go, ‘Mommy! Mommy!’ I knew my life wasn’t going to be complete until I had a child… the yearning grew bigger as I got older.”

Mills shared how there was a “big hole” in her life until she adopted Chloe, before adding:

“She filled everything that I needed. It’s funny because when I started the process of adopting, it was about nine months from the time I started the process to when I got her. And I really feel that she was meant to be with me. She’s my daughter. I’m her mother.”

The award-winning actress shared that during the first few years, she took Chloe to the sets. However, as soon as Chloe began school, Donna took a step back from acting, which eventually turned into an 18-year-long hiatus. She explained that she didn’t become a “mother to give her to a nanny” when she went out of town for two months at a time for shoots.

In fact, Chloe later told Entertainment Tonight how her mom was always there for her, from attending her games to making Halloween costumes together.

“Every activity I did she was there, every show I did, every tennis match… she was always there.”

Over the years, the mother-daughter bond has gone from strength to strength. In fact, they continue to meet each other at least once a week, talk daily via texts/ calls, and have matching heart tattoos on their wrists.

The duo also attends red carpet events together, including the 2009 Annual TV Land Awards and the 2022 U.K. premiere of Donna Mills’ film, NOPE, created by Jordan Peele.

Today, Chloe Mills is a model-actress who shares swimwear/ lingerie photoshoots on her social media. She also appeared in the 2021 short film, Aftermath, and her mom’s 2023 TV movie, Ladies of the ‘80s: A Divas Christmas.

Donna Mills’ only child is also a former executive of the elite, members-only club called Soho House in Malibu, California. She previously told ET how much she loves “being around people and making them happy.”

When asked whether she watched her mother’s most famous show, Knots Landing, Chloe Mills revealed that she hadn’t, adding:

“I think it’s weird to see Mom onscreen. It’s like, that’s my mom. Something’s off here.”

For years, Chloe Mills’ called her blue vintage Ford pickup truck her “baby.” However, that changed when she became a mother (to a son) for real in 2024. In October of that year, Donna Mills took to Instagram and shared:

“My baby girl is having a baby! And we gave her the shower of her dreams. Can’t wait to meet the little guy. I know I’ll love him as much as I love her.”

Mills’ post showed pictures of her pregnant daughter alongside her then partner turned husband, Travis Collings, who is a realtor.

Donna Mills and her daughter continue to shower praises and love on each other via social media. For instance, on Chloe’s 29th birthday, the General Hospital star took to Instagram and uploaded a throwback picture, before writing in the caption:

“You are the light of my life. I am so proud of the woman you’ve become. I wish you every happiness the world has to offer and a life filled with joy and laughter.”

Likewise, on Mother’s Day 2023, Donna Mills dedicated a heartfelt post to Chloe and reflected on her motherhood journey.

“Being a mother gives you a depth of feeling you didn’t know existed until you hold that baby in your arms. And now I feel it every time I see her, every time we hug and laugh and do silly stuff together. As she said to me when she was two years old, ‘Mommy, our heartstrings are tied together.’ They are my darling girl and they always will be.”

In the wake of her now-viral post showing her transformation, fans have united to applaud Donna Mills for standing up for herself, not shying away from embracing her real age, while also keeping up with her own fashion/ styling game.
