The 35-year-old actress who plays Maddy Perez in the iconic series addressed retirement rumors while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter. She admitted to moments where she would think of quitting:

Emphasizing her approach to fame and personal matters, Demie told the outlet:

“There are goals, and things that I want, but I’m choosing to keep that private.”

She also pushed back against external pressures, noting:

“People really take the authority out of your hands. What happened to my ability to choose? I like my life like this, and I wouldn’t change it.”

The Euphoria actress has not been married yet, but she has been in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Christian Berishaj, for the past nine years. Alexa Demie is known for her discretion in romantic matters as she rarely discusses her private life.

Alexa Demie’s current boyfriend, Christian Berishaj, is an Albanian-American who was born in Dallas, Texas, but later moved to Eastpointe, Michigan. Besides being a singer and songwriter, Berishaj is also a multi-instrumentalist and producer known for R&B and soul music.

The couple began their relationship in 2017. They first connected when Demie featured in his music video for the song, Slide. Soon their professional ties developed into a romantic relationship.

Demie also featured in Berishaj’s (known professionally as JMSN) music video for his 2021 track, Act Like I’m Not Here. The video was directed by the singer himself. Till date, JMSN has released nine studio albums with its first official album being Priscilla, released in 2012. The R&B singer and producer dropped his last album in 2025, “…it’s only about u if you think it is…”

JMSN has released all his albums through his independent label, White Room Records. In addition to these, JMSN has released EPs, singles, and at least two live albums.

Alexa Demie and JMSN have been photographed in public on rare occasions. In October 2020, the couple were picture on the Miami beach together. In one picture, they were seen holding hands and in another they had their arms around each other. Since then, they have remained strictly private about their lives.

Born on December 11, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, Demie is of mixed heritage. Her mom, Rose Mendez, is a makeup artist from Michoacán, Mexico. Her father, Scott Wilson Vanerstrom, was of Ashkenazi Jewish, German, and French-Canadian descent.
