Country artist and songwriter Gabby Mooney, whose real name is Gabrielle Mooney, had a near-death experience which changed her perspective on life. She married Graylan Stone a few months later.In February 2023, while driving from Nashville to her family’s home in Arkansas, the Pray for You singer developed a severe headache. She is the sister of Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney and a country artist known for her hit debut single Dreams. Her other tracks include Rise, If You Ever and Out of Reach.During an appearance on Hulu’s IMPACT x Nightline, Mooney described her frightening sequence when she was driving from Nashville to her home in Arkansas around Valentine’s Day in 2023. She said that she developed a severe headache which hindered her vision. She first decided to pull over and rest but headed home instead. She told ABC’s “Nightline” correspondent Ashan Singh:“This one was so pounding that I could barely see the road, but I remember thinking, I’m just going to keep driving. You’re going to feel so much better in your own bed. And I just wanted to make it home.”After reaching home, Gabby Mooney felt sick and started vomiting in the bathroom. Her parents then rushed her to the hospital. They called a private ambulance because conventional ambulances were not operating due to the tornado conditions. Mooney then added:“they met them at a Baptist church about a few miles up the road so they could get me to the ER faster. I was having apparently multiple seizures in the ambulance.”Recalling her hospital scene, Mooney said that she flatlined when the doctors tried to intubate her and said that she “died.” She then explained what happened in that moment:“When I was dead, I just knew that it was just like Jesus’ hand was just going like this, and my spirit was rising and it was just like, not yet. And I felt that of knowing that it was not my time, and it was just like this communication between me and the father, but also it felt the most peaceful, incredible feeling I had ever felt in my life. I didn’t want to come back.”Mooney was later diagnosed with a brain cyst and hydrocephalus, which required emergency brain surgery. She woke up about two weeks later with some right-side facial paralysis and underwent recovery/therapy. She said she passed out and broke her nose a year before her surgery. The experience tested her relationship with Graylan Stone, and they eventually married. Expressing her profound love for her husband, Mooney wrote I Didn't Know Cowboys Had Tattoos for him.Though Gabby Mooney does not have her own children, she has been a devoted aunt to her sibling Shay’s children.
