Regan Hutsell was crowned Miss America 2027 in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 6, by last year’s winner Cassie Donegan.

Hutsell is Miss Texas 2026, a former Radio City Rockette, and an artist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, according to her LinkedIn profile.

At this year’s pageant, delegates from 50 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico competed for the title.

Regan Hutsell became the 99th woman to wear the sash and the crown. She would also receive scholarship money.

The first and second runners-up at Miss America 2027 were Shelby Bordelon (Miss Louisiana) and Kate Dimmett (Miss Illinois), respectively.

More about Regan Hutsell

Regan Hutsell was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She attended Feijoo Ballet School before joining the Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2021. It is one of the world’s most popular touring ballet companies. Hutsell was also associated with Ballet Rhode Island.

Over the years, Regan has bagged multiple accolades, including two gold medals in classical and contemporary dance – first at Dance Open America in 2021 and the other at American Ballet Competition in 2019. She is also a four-time YAGP finalist in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016.

Regan Hutsell once told brb.org.uk:

“My favourite full-length ballet is Don Quixote. I love this particular ballet because I always feel the magic of the theater when I watch it. There is so much life, energy, and passion in the plot, as well as the vivacious score that always makes me want to jump up and dance. Kitri has been a dream role for me as long as I can remember, and I hope to get the chance to dance it someday.”

Her repertoire includes Still Life at the Penguin Café, Black Sabbath – The Ballet, and Romeo & Juliet. Hutsell has worked in several Peter Wright productions such as Coppélia, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Swan Lake.

About her most enjoyable experience, Regan told the publication:

Dancing on opening night as a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall, New York. The magic of opening night at that theater will always be with me.”

If not a dancer, Regan Hutsell would have been a medical professional or a pastry chef. She also runs an online bakery called Cupcakes by Regan. Its selling point is the gluten-free products.

According to her LinkedIn, Hutsell is a student at Liberty University Online.

In June, she represented her hometown of Texas at Miss Texas and won the title at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas. Her community service effort is titled “Your Body is Your Home,” which gained focus during the pageant.

Last week, at Miss America 2027, Regan Hutsell performed jazz dance to Le Jazz Hot and won the Preliminary Fitness/Talent Round. She said it was an “incredible honor” in an Instagram post.

“If all of the versions of myself - the aspiring dancer, the little girl, the teenager, and the young woman who struggled with her body and battled an eating disorder could have seen me last night, I don’t know if she ever would have believed it,” Regan continued to write.

She added:

“Anyone who knows my journey knows there were countless moments when my body, strength, and muscularity weren’t celebrated, moments when I felt like I needed to be less of myself to be more valuable in an industry I loved. So to stand on the Miss America stage, proud of the healthy woman I am today, is something I will never take for granted. More than the award itself, I’m proud of the journey it represents.”

Hutsell ended her post by giving a shout-out to her friends, family, dance trainer, and fitness/health trainer, among others.
