“I can't quite explain it. The tango is more than just a dance. I practice almost every day. It's a dance you can practice alone, and, sadly, I don't have a partner now.”

The incident gained media attention as it ironically mirrored the plot of Robert Duvall’s then-current film, Something to Talk About. In the film, Duvall played a wealthy horse farm owner who faces marital fallout over indiscretions.

A report in a 1996 New York Daily News article stated that at the time of Robert Duvall’s divorce from Sharon Brophy, the lawyers advised him not to date any women seriously until his divorce was finalised. They noted that it would worsen his situation, especially since he alleged that Brophy already had a new partner. Speaking about his divorce, he told the outlet:

“My hands are tied. I’m like a celibate. It’s horrible. My soon-to-be-ex-wife has someone. But I don’t get to.”

Robert Duvall shared the final years of his life with his fourth wife, Luciana Duvall, who is an Argentine actress, producer and director. Although he married four times in his life but never had biological children of his own.
