Skeet Ulrich’s first wife and English actress, Georgina Cates, passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 51. She was best known for her role as Jenny Porter in 2point4 Children and An Awfully Big Adventure, where she was cast alongside Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman.

Born Clare Elaine Woodgate, Cates married Ulrich in 1997, and they later divorced in 2005, citing irreconcilable differences. Ulrich has two children: fraternal twins Naiia Rose Ulrich and Jakob Dylan Ulrich, born March 9, 2001.

Neither Ulrich nor Cates went into detail to explain the reason behind their split. Ulrich later noted that it happened around the time when he was filming the acclaimed western television drama Into the West.

Everything about Skeet Ulrich’s family amid his ex-wife Georgina Cates’ death

Skeet Ulrich is best known for his roles in 1990s thriller and horror films, as well as several prominent television series.

Some of his famous film roles include Billy Loomis in Scream, Chris Hooker in The Craft, and Vincent Lopiano in As Good as It Gets. Ulrich also appeared as Forsythe Pendleton “F.P.” Jones in Riverdale, as Jake Green in Jericho and as Detective Rex Winters in Law & Order: LA.

In the mid to late 1990s, Skeet Ulrich was compared to a young Johnny Depp because of his brooding looks, dark features and similar facial structure and style. After marrying Cates, he largely stepped away from the spotlight and moved to a farm in Madison County, Virginia. In the following years of his life, Ulrich focused on his family and developed a keen interest in farm life.

At the time of his exit from Hollywood, Ulrich told Vanity Fair:

“I went into acting to make money. I'm not going to make movies forever. I'm going to make furniture and have babies…I certainly regret some of the things I said in the past. I had been going through a turbulent time and handled things poorly.”

Ulrich added:

“I was leaning towards building furniture. I bought a farm in Virginia and was living on it. Then I took almost two years off when the kids were born. And I missed it (acting) so badly. There was just a void.”

Andrew Marshall, known for The Burkiss Way, paid tribute to Cates in an X post:

“I’m very sad to report, I have just discovered, that lovely and talented Claire Woodgate aka Georgina Cates, our 1st Jenny in 2p4 died last May.I have no other details than what’s on IMDb. Sympathies to her family and children. If anyone has further details to share, please do.”

Following his divorce from his first wife, Skeet Ulrich married Amelia Jackson-Gray on May 6, 2012, in what was his second marriage. Their marriage also ended in divorce in 2015, after three years. Gray is known for acting, writing and producing in projects like Point Mugu and The Girl on the Roof.

According to a report in Elle magazine, Ulrich has also been in brief relationships with Lucy Hale and model Megan Blake Irwin. Besides being married to Cates and Gray, he was also engaged to model Rose Costa from 2016 to 2017.
