Everything we need to know about Tori Evans

Tori Evans stirred a debate online when she wore a white dress to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York. She was her backup dancer during the Eras Tour that lasted from March 2023 to December 2024. She performed throughout the entire global run, appearing in the live shows alongside other dancers.

The star-studded wedding featured 1000 guests, including A-list celebrities like Tom Cruise, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Gigi Hadid and more. Each guest was provided with an embroidered handkerchief with lyrics from Swift’s song Blank Space. Reportedly, Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks performed at the wedding.

Tori Evans’ husband and actor TJ Shaw shut down critics who blamed her for upstaging the bride by wearing white. He defended his wife, saying that the color is “Pink Champagne” and it looked closer to white due to the lighting. Taking to the comment section of the video, he wrote:

“DRESS IS PINK CHAMPAGNE color for everyone that doesn’t understand lighting.”

Wedding guest etiquette traditionally reserves white for the bride to avoid upstaging her. Wearing white or similar bridal shades is generally considered a major faux pas unless requested by the couple.

Fans called it a "fashion faux pas," with comments like "Even if it's pink, it's so close to white" and accusations of trying to look bridal.

An X user exclaimed:

“She wore white to a wedding? You never wear white to a wedding, unless you’re the bride!”

Another noted:

“Wearing white to another person’s wedding is TACKY. It is even worse when you are specifically asked not to. Which everyone was.”

A third said:

“Wearing white to someone else’s wedding is usually seen as a fashion faux pas, but at the end of the day, it’s the bride’s opinion that matters most tho.”

Born in July 1992, Tori Evans grew up in Northern California in a small town outside of the San Jose area called Morgan Hill. She received her training in tap, jazz and ballet for 15 years at Lana’s Dance Studio. She attended the University of Arizona on a dance scholarship and graduated with honors. During an interview with Vogue, she shared:

“I grew up doing everything; dance, volleyball, swimming, piano, track, I think I even played soccer for a few years. Dance was always there, I just wasn’t necessarily always the best at it. When I was around 11 or 12, by some miracle something inside me clicked with dance and after that moment, there was no going back.”

Tori Evans participated in LA Dance Magic, where she trained and assisted some of the top choreographers of the industry. Besides being a professional dancer, Tori is also a certified yoga instructor at Hot8Yoga.

She has the experience of working with Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Cardi B, The Weeknd, Gwen Stefani, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Hudson, Pitbull, Tyga, Backstreet Boys, Empire of the Sun, Bad Bunny, J Balvin and more.
