Who is Wanya Morris’ wife, Amber Reyes? All we know as Brandy reveals ex-boyfriend exploited her as a teen

R&B singer-songwriter Brandy offered a fresh insight into her past relationship with fellow artist Wanya Morris in her brand-new memoir, Phases. She revealed that it began in the late 1990s, when she was 16 and he was in his early 20s.

“I was in over my head. Sneaking around with Wanya and lying to my parents had become a constant. They barely liked the idea of me dating at all, and telling them about us was out of question. But it wasn’t just about upsetting — or disappointing — my parents,” Brandy wrote.

The Boy Is Mine singer, 47, claimed that Morris was her “first” and he allegedly “took advantage” of her youth and naivety due to their five-year age gap. She continued:

“Wanya and I understood, with diamond-cut clarity, that public knowledge of our relationship would ignite scandal, potentially threatening everything we'd both worked for, so he and I opted for elaborate fiction: we would pretend patience and claim we were waiting until my eighteenth birthday before pursuing any romantic connection.”

Today, Wanya Morris, 52, is married to beauty entrepreneur Amber Reyes, best known as the founder and CEO of L.A. Laser & Skin Spa.

Meanwhile, Brandy's current relationship status is unknown. She, however, shares her 18-year-old singer-songwriter daughter, Sy'rai, with her ex-boyfriend and record producer Robert "Big Bert" Smith.

According to reports, Wanya Morris began his relationship with Amber Reyes in 2019 and tied the knot the same year, despite being still legally married to his first wife, Traci Nash. In fact, before they could divorce in June 2023, he welcomed his daughter, Anela, with Reyes in February.

Besides being a hands-on mom, Amber Reyes runs the L.A. Laser LV, an award-winning boutique laser spa in Las Vegas, Nevada, that has studios across Maui and Oahu in Hawaii. It was here on a small island that Amber was born and raised.

In 2022, Deluxe Version Magazine recognized L.A. Laser LV as the Best Laser Spa of the Year. Reyes told the publication:

“I am so blessed that my love for skincare has evolved into such an incredible business! We are thrilled to announce that we are working on franchise opportunities in other major cities across the country as well. I am very grateful.”

Wanya Morris’ wife continued:

“We were the very first spa to create memberships for our clients. Our customers would ask for finance options, and because I truly cared about them, I wanted to offer ways to experience our services. Because of this, we now have some of the most loyal clients in the city.”

Amber Reyes spoke about the highlights of her spa, including VIP services, year-round discounts for members, one-on-one sessions with masseuses, and “Fancy Fridays Botox and Bubbles” celebrations. Among the regular services are laser hair removal, skin rejuvenation/tightening, butt facials, tattoo removal, and more.

Amber Reyes is active on Instagram (176,000 followers), where she uploads family and beauty-oriented content that often features her husband and 3-year-old daughter.

Wanya Morris, too, celebrates his wife and kid on social media. Last July, he uploaded a heartfelt birthday post for Amber.

“To my beautiful wife on this, Your Special Day… I am blessed to be able to celebrate the gift of you every day & I’m extremely grateful… I thank God, Cindy (Momma/Nani) & Angel (Pops) met to create a Love & Future just for me,” Morris wrote.

He continued:

“So, All of my Associates, Friends, Family & Everyone who knows, or knows of, has been in her presence or appreciates the look of happiness & smile on my face; Please wish My Queen a Happy Birthday. I Love You My Am~Bition.”

The couple also exchanges Valentine’s and Anniversary posts and offer glimpses into their daily life.

What we know about Wanya Morris’ relationship with Brandy

Wanya Morris took in Brandy Norwood as his protégé and collaborated with her on his 1994 song, Broken Hearted. Their professional relationship soon took a romantic turn when Brandy developed feelings for her mentor. In 2012, she appeared on the VH1 special, Behind the Music, and shared:

“One day, I got the courage to tell Wanya how I felt. I just told him that I loved him and thanked him for making me feel the way I feel because I had never felt that way before. He was just like, 'Wow.' The relationship took a transition, and we became a couple. I was on a high. It was love. It was real love.”

Meanwhile, Wanya Morris shared in a 2021 Instagram Live:

“Once she turned of age, we had been hanging around each other so much that there came to be some sort of connection. An intimate connection. We actually fell in love.”

The Boyz II Men member continued:

“We were young, you're young and you fall in love. As time progressed, we grew out of each other... she grew out of me and I grew out of her. I might have grown out of her a little bit faster.”

Over the years, Brandy also maintained a similar story about dating Wanya Morris when she came of age, until her recent memoir. She wrote Morris often compared her to other singers like Mariah Carey and made her page him before calling.

"These are the things that, with hindsight, you realize are wildly obvious signs of something wrong. Neon warning signs that I chose to ignore because I didn't know what the hell I was doing, or what he was doing with me. Just that I was in love — or what I believed was love," she added.

Brandy mentioned that the relationship ended when he confessed to cheating on her. She also discredited Wanya Morris’ previous description of her as:

"The young ingénue having a schoolgirl crush and getting her heart broken."

Now, Norwood says that she was manipulated into the relationship, which took her years to realize and come to terms with. She states:

“I believe he took advantage. The shame ends here. The silence ends here. I was not a fast girl with a crush. I was not a dramatic teenager who couldn't handle rejection. I was not an unstable, obsessive fan. I was a child. And he was an adult. And it's time the world understood the difference.”
