While most of the Avengers have been confirmed to be returning in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel has yet to confirm Vision's return. But thanks to VisionQuest, we will soon see the resurrected Vision hide from bounty hunters in his human form and team up with a boy who could be his son in VisionQuest.
Since VisionQuest is releasing so close to Doomsday, there is a significant chance of the Avenger appearing in the upcoming film. Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the MCU, has recently broken his silence regarding whether he's going to appear on the big screen soon, and what he said could mean something big for the upcoming Marvel film.
What Paul Bettany's words mean for Vision's potential Doomsday appearance
Paul Bettany is on a press tour for VisionQuest, which will premiere on Disney+ this Wednesday. During this press tour, he had an interview with Good Morning America, where he was asked when viewers can expect to see Vision on the big screen again. In response, Bettany said:
"You know what? Um, I'm just trying to keep the kids in shoes and if I tell you that, I'll get fired. You know, I'm just out there hustling. You know, that's for Kevin Feige and Louis D'Esposito to decide."
Bettany did not explicitly confirm that he's returning for Doomsday, which is Marvel's next and final film of 2026. However, he did not deny his potential appearance either. Moreover, in a humorous tone, Bettany said that he could get in trouble if he speaks on it, which suggests there might be something in store for fans regarding Vision that Marvel doesn't want to be revealed yet.
There has been a lot of speculation by fans that since VisionQuest is the last project releasing before Doomsday, there is a reason behind this timing. What fans have been speculating is that VisionQuest's end credits will probably tease Vision joining the Avengers to fight Doom in the upcoming film.
Moreover, Marvel displayed the Latverian witches' costume at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 and featured the masked, robed figures alongside Doctor Doom in official promotional art and videos. That has heavily suggested the return of Wanda and Agatha to the MCU. VisionQuest is the third show of the Westview trilogy. Thus, if Wanda and Agatha return in the upcoming Marvel film, we can also expect Vision's return.
However, Paul Bettany's words could also mean that after VisionQuest, he will be returning to the MCU as Vision in Avengers: Secret Wars. So far, all of this is speculation, and Marvel is yet to confirm if Paul Bettany will be returning as Vision in Doomsday or Secret Wars.
Doomsday premieres in theaters on December 18, 2026. VisionQuest will premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026, with the first two episodes. The next four episodes will be released two at a time, weekly on Wednesdays till October 28, 2026. The final two episodes will be released on November 4 and 11, 2026, respectively.
