A24's upcoming documentary, You Can See Everything, focuses on Elizabeth Holmes and the thirty-four days before she goes to prison after she was found guilty of the Theranos fraud. You Can See Everything is directed by Nathan Fielder (famous for The Curse and Nathan For You) and Lance Oppenheim (famous for Primetime and Some Kind of Heaven).
Another name linked to Holmes in You Can See Everything is Billy Evans, who has been her boyfriend since 2017. Holmes and Evans first met at a Fleet Week charity event held in 2017, while she was under investigation for fraud at Theranos, a health technology company later found to be at the center of a major fraud case. The couple reportedly bonded over their shared interest in business and technology and reportedly got engaged the next year, in 2018.
Holmes and Evans started a family during her legal troubles, welcoming two kids before she went to prison.
With You Can See Everything coming up, here's a look at Holmes and Evans' relationship before the documentary arrives.
You Can See Everything: The story of Elizabeth Holmes and her fiancé Billy Evans

Before Elizabeth Holmes was sentenced, Billy Evans wrote a letter to the judge, as reported by ABC7, stating that he was attracted to her childlike sense of wonder and how genuine she was, adding that she listened more closely than anyone he had ever met.
However, the two did not start dating right away. Evans said in his letter that they remained "just friends" for half a year, as he was not very sure about getting into a relationship because of everything he had heard about Holmes. He said the woman he knew was very different from how others described her.
Holmes has also spoken openly about her relationship with Evans, telling People that she was "totally in love with him" and that after they talked for hours, she felt it was the moment when she trusted her heart.
The next year, Holmes and Evans got engaged after they attended the Taylor Swift Reputation concert and started a new journey, as reported by People.
Their relationship also drew attention because of the Theranos case. Speaking about their time together, Evans reportedly wrote that they spent six months traveling around the country, sleeping under the stars and enjoying a peaceful life away from the public eye.
In July 2021, the couple welcomed a son whom they named William Holmes Evans. Holmes' pregnancy was disclosed in court filings in March 2021. Speaking about motherhood, Holmes told People that she had always wanted to have children and never thought she would be found guilty.
After their son's birth, she was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and three counts of wire fraud. The case stemmed from claims Theranos made about its blood-testing technology, which turned out to be false and did not work as promised, leading to her conviction for defrauding investors. In February 2023, the couple welcomed another child, as per the filings, and her prison sentence reportedly started in May 2023.
The two are currently engaged, and speaking about marriage, Holmes told People that they might get married someday. She further added that they bought rings on Amazon before she went to prison, adding that their love is "deep" and "real."
Before Billy, Holmes was reportedly in a long-term relationship with Theranos executive Sunny Balwani. When asked about Evans, Holmes said she never thought she would be with someone else, adding that she had wanted to spend time on her own but now believes she was meant to find Billy.
You Can See Everything is scheduled to release in October 2026.
