Donald Trump reportedly cancelled the rest of his election rallies after multiple altercations with a heckler and protesters. On October 29, 2026, the Republican National Committee (RNC) formally announced that upcoming weekend campaign events in Kansas and Iowa were cancelled because the campaign shifted its strategy toward hosting a series of telephone rallies.
The American performer and film producer Rob Potylo posted Trump's cancelled rally update from his X account, Robby Roadsteamer, with a caption that suggested he was joking about taking credit for it:
"Trump cancelled the rest of his rallies! You're welcome America!"
On October 28, 2026, Rob Potylo disrupted the president's midterm campaign rally at the Shoemaker Center on Ohio University's Chillicothe campus. He started performing his song The Epstein Plane and loudly repeated claims that Trump had flown on Jeffrey Epstein's plane.
MS Now revealed that a Republican strategist familiar with the cancelled events said that the president's last-minute schedule changes were driven by strong demand in several closely contested races before the upcoming election. According to the operative, telephone rallies allowed him to connect with a larger number of voters across more districts than in-person appearances.

Donald Trump cancelled the weekend rallies in Kansas and Iowa and planned to switch to tele-rallies
Donald Trump had called off two campaign rallies in the closing days of the crucial 2026 midterm elections. Instead, he planned to spend the weekend conducting a series of shorter telephone rallies. The shift came because recent polls indicated that Republicans faced increasing political challenges heading into Election Day.
One of the political challenges was created by Robby Roadsteamer, who disrupted Donald Trump's Ohio rally by loudly singing the song 'The Epstein Plane' with repetitive claims that Trump had flown on Jeffrey Epstein's plane. After the news about Trump's cancelled rallies broke out on the internet, Robby posted the "You're welcome America!" comment from his X account.
RNC chairman Joe Gruters said in a statement announcing the events' cancellation:
"Voters across the country want to hear from President Trump before Election Day, and this 72-hour sprint will be a huge boost in the closing days."
A White House official shared a similar perspective and said that the tele-rallies still gave the president a way to communicate with voters across the country before Election Day. The official said that Trump planned to participate in more than 20 telephone rallies before the election and that the rallies allowed him to speak directly with Americans, promote his record, and connect with voters in a wider range of locations nationwide.
