The official synopsis of Ebenezer reads,

"Think you know his story? Think again. Johnny Depp is Ebenezer Scrooge."

Directed by Ti West, the film reimagines Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The film stars Johnny Depp as Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge, a grumpy and cold-hearted businessman whose dislike for Christmas and holidays has left him isolated. On Christmas Eve, he is haunted by Christmas ghosts of past, present, and yet to come. On his path towards redemption, he is forced to confront the choices he made and the legacy he will leave behind.

The trailer opens with Mr. Scrooge mocking guests at the Christmas dinner table. He refuses to give donations to the poor, and it looks like nobody is happy with his presence.

However, things take a turn when his dead business partner, Jacob, haunts him. Jacob warns him that he will be haunted by three spirits. A woman's spirit appears and hauntingly invites Mr. Scrooge to walk to the past.

Mr. Scrooge refuses to move and says he will not leave the bed. However, as he lies down to rest, the bed swallows him. He gets transported to his past, where we see his younger self dancing with the love of his life. Mr. Scrooge tries to warn a young Ebenezer to fight for his love.

In another sequence, Mr. Scrooge slips into a grave as he exclaims,

"I'm not the man I was."

A spirit in a wedding dress warns Mr. Scrooge, saying

"Your nightmare has just begun."

The trailer ends with Mr. Scrooge throwing a snowball at a passing couple and wishing them Merry Christmas.
