16 Things That Happened on Portia's Baby's Birthday: GH Two Scoops For the Week of July 13th

General Hospital gave us quite a week...or we should say it gave us quite a day that began on July 7 and seemed to finally be coming to a close on July 17, complete with wardrobe changes, varying hairstyles, multiple trips to Wyndemere, two homecomings, and a living room birth. Oh, we also had a 16,000th episode that was brought to you by the number 16. Who can forget?

That was a lot to pack in, but our Port Charles pals managed to do it with ease...and a little angst, too. Because what would a soap opera be without angst? So, with that, it's time to dig in with those two scoops and unpack the week...er day...that was in PC.

Jason Comes Home, Jason Leaves Again

That's right. We actually saw Jason Morgan for a hot minute, looking like he'd just been through a war. Who was this man in the nice shoes and button-down shirt and why did the WSB not just give him a t-shirt and leather jacket and send him on his way? We're not sure what time he arrived, but Danny had time to hang out at the Metro Court pool on day 4 of this latest soap opera, never-ending day.

But Jason also did a super-weird thing when he got home. He only told Danny and Tracy before grabbing Danny and going somewhere... But we are not sure where, because he just appeared outside the Q boathouse, announced he would now morph into Father of the Year, told Tracy he and Danny were going on vacation, and vanished.

So, yeah, that was decidedly NOT how we expected Jason's return to go. We figured he would be exploring more of his Q side, but not to even tell Sonny or Carly he was free, was just...wonderful? While there is value to his friendships with Sonny and Carly and his old feelings for them will never die, Jason was already morphing back into Q on that roof when he couldn't pull the trigger. Is the transformation complete? Probably not. But we think we are going to like this hybrid Jason more than ever before. Now, if Perfect Parent Jason would just remember he has another son...

Anna Comes Home...Anna's Pretty Busy

Jason came home during this week's never-ending day, but Anna came home last week and it's Anna's very distinctive blouse that offers a firm giveaway that we have been working on the same day for so very long.

During Anna's big homecoming day, she had a surprise party waiting for her, saw Peter multiple times, had visits from Liesl, Dante, and Valentin, stopped by Josslyn's room at GH and told off Britt in the stairwell. Not bad for our all-original super spy extraordinaire.

And, about that visit with Valentin. Yep, Vanna fans, the chemistry is still there. But there seemed to be some sort of deep and abiding affection and friendship between this former pair rather than a longing for one another. We never thought we would see the day, since as everyone has told Carly, Valentin has loved Anna for so long, but could he really be moving home or is he the one who is going to have to save her from the Peter in he mind?

Carly Argues With a Lot of People

We suppose Carly's day started in the kitchen when she and Valentin enjoyed some flirty, sexy time at the sink and Sonny barged in, looking for coffee. (He's Sonny after all.) That resulted in Sonny and Carly arguing about her new relationship with Valentin. We'll assume it was still morning when Lulu popped in to yell at Carly about her relationship with Valentin. And we covered this all in last week's Two Scoops because the never-ending PC day began then.

This week, Carly changed clothing, but not before reminding Jack she hated him while he reminded Carly that Valentin has always loved Anna. We think she just changed her outfit for date night, though. Apparently, Carly and Valentin were supposed to just relax by the pool, but suddenly Valentin had to leave after recalling Charlotte's car accident the night Jordan almost killed someone. At least they went public with a very sexy display that surprised Carly and took her breath away. But we're surprised she had any breath because of the beat-down she had just given Britt.

Despite Carly changing clothing, we know it's the same day as last week because Valentin had not changed his outfit by Friday. They ended the day where they started, enjoying some flirty, sexy time by the kitchen sink after Valentin assured Carly he only had eyes for her. After all, he poisoned her last year, and as he told Anna, she forgives him.

But they also have a black box to open, which leads to a whole other story arc if Brick and Sonny don't ruin things first.

Oh, Right, Britt is Free

Britt didn't have a good week at all | Image: ABC
Britt didn't have a good week at all | Image: ABC

Britt was freed last week when Joe handed her a $5 bill and told her to be on her way, but she launched right into the world's biggest pity party. And also didn't think very much about her other resources. Why was she so concerned about getting her old, dumpy room back above Bobbie's when her cousin owns a swanky pastel penthouse where her mother lives?

Wouldn't Nina and Liesl give Britt a place to stay and have a hot shower? Why was she so concerned about a boarding house she hadn't paid rent and had moved out of? Didn't she take her things with her? Britt's situation is confusing because there is no need for her to be in this situation.

That said, we don't think Britt deserved the beat down that Anna gave her in the stairwell. She is not just like her father at all. In fact, Britt is just someone who wants to deliver babies, drive a nice car, have a nice (former hitman?) boyfriend, and live a relatively normal life. She just needs to lose that britchy attitude, even if she did just learn she had been manipulated into thinking she was dying for the last few years so she could build a bomb.

That Busy, Busy Dawn of Drew House

Drew is almost back with us. Yay? | Image: ABC

Did Willow even go anywhere in that red and white striped shirt she wore for days or did she just entertain multiple visitors, including Jack (twice), Nina, Michael, and Kai? At least Michael was just there to drop off Wiley and Amelia after a late evening little league game, apparently, considering how dark it was out there.

During Willow's very busy day, Jack suggested she kill Drew (last week), but she scoffed. Knowing that Drew is knocking medical bags off the table around Kai had Willow rethinking that suggestion. She has to get more creative, so killing him sounds like a good idea. Considering she failed the last time, she may as well try again, right? If only Willow knew that Drew was also waving at her kids and telling them to keep mum...

Everything's Happening at Wyndemere

Jack and Nina visited Wyndemere | Image: ABC

For a castle that's a crime scene (as usual), Wyndemere saw a lot of action this past week. Dante and the cops collected evidence, but the WSB had already taken too much to cover things up, hindering a local investigation (sounds so true to life). But Valentin and Charlotte then dropped in for a self-guided real estate tour (Charlotte had already been to the pool so she could argue with Rocco and Danny. Valentin had already argued with Sonny before visiting Josslyn and Anna. Later, he made it to the Metro Court Pool and Carly's house. SUCH a long day.)

But wait! There's more. Nina and Jack also popped in so Jack could conduct WSB business with Nina in tow, because that's not suspicious at all, right? While he took a breather on the couch, Valentin in and swiped the black box from right behind the furnace. Of course. At least Jack and Nina had fun impropmptu date at the Brown Dog later.

Josslyn Holds Hospital Court

Josslyn finally told Trina the truth | Image: ABC

Josslyn certainly wasn't a lonely girl in the hospital because everyone had to drop in and say hi, talk business, or confront her. You name it. Let's tick off the list. Valentin, Carly, Jack, Anna, Liesl, Trina... Anyone else? At least she finally, finally, finally told Trina the truth.

She also broke a mother's heart and we're not sure how to feel about that. While we are glad that Valentin and Jason are free, all thanks to Josslyn's deal with Z, and she clearly feels guilty for tarnishing Cassius, we have a hard time mustering up sympathy for her guilt. Josslyn certainly finds herself in a catch-22 situation...

Brook Lynn Also Changed Her Whole Look

Brook Lynn even changed outfits | Image: ABC

Like Carly, Brook Lynn also had two very different days in two very different outfits. On her first day of this very long day, she had to confess to Chase that she did indeed set Willow up to take the fall for a non-crime she didn't commit. Somehow, that all blew over and Chase forgives Brook Lynn and Brook Lynn forgives Chase, so what was the point? (To get Lucy Deception shares? Maybe.)

During the second half of Brook Lynn's day, she had already changed her clothing, straightened her hair, and put on her music producer hat to attend Gio and Trina's late-night showcase because all record label auditions happen after 10 pm, we guess.

Ethan's All Better?

Didn't Ethan and Josslyn get shot during the same Port Charles day? We know Ethan only took a bullet to the butt, but he lost a lot of blood and nearly died. Meanwhile, he was already enjoying a day at the pool and a night at the Brown Dog while Josslyn held court from her hospital bed with an oxygen tube still up her nose. Make it make sense.

James Learns the Truth

Cody broke sad news to James | Image: ABC

Can someone explain why James just HAD to learn that Nathan wasn't Nathan and Cassius was his uncle while his mom was in the Grand Canyon? This couldn't have waited? Shouldn't a mother tell this to a kid about their father and not an honorary uncle? And why couldn't GH wait until Gary James Fuller was back at work? While Easton Winn did an admirable job, the scenes would have had so much more impact with a James we knew.

Sonny Joins the Hospital Board

Yes, we know Sonny has funded two hospital wings. But Sonny also shot Monica and Alan's son in cold blood, and Tracy is correct. He should not sit on the hospital board. While we love Sonny, there are just some things that should never happen. Just like Sonny walking in and out of the Q mansion like he owns the place. But somehow Elizabeth got Tracy to relent and we just don't get it.

A New Doctor Arrived

Jason was escorted home by an adorable man with an Australian accent who already doesn't like Britt, but loves Stella, Elizabeth, and Tracy, and we want to see more. And Britt clearly does not want to see more. And Dr. Tristan Roberts does not want to see more of Britt, but he is going to because it looks like he is her new love interest.

Trina and Gio Had Their Showcase

Trina and Gio performed | Image: ABC

Why did that showcase happen at night? We know we already asked this, but we have to ask it again. When Trina spotted her mother and Isaiah at the pool earlier, she made no mention of her big audition coming in a few hours. Same for Gio when he welcomed Anna home in the morning? Isn't this the thing you prepare all day for and not do so many other things? Not in Port Charles, we guess.

Dante Flirted With Elizabeth

Dante found yet another reason to visit Elizabeth for no reason. This time, he wanted to schedule a physical in the emergency room, in case Anna decided she wanted her job back any time soon. Real slick, Dante. Great excuse. It's clear that these two have fallen for one another, but do they know that yet?

Sidwell Makes An Offer

That bright yellow dress that Jordan has been sporting for over a week and had no blood on it all after delivering Portia's baby was another giveaway of this never-ending day. Remember when she visited Sidwell wearing that dress and he offered to fix her face so she'd get him some cash? Yeah, that happened in the afternoon right before Jordan dropped by to yell at Portia and deliver her baby at night.

And Finally...Portia's Baby Makes GH History

Portia's baby arrived | Image: ABC
Portia's baby arrived | Image: ABC

Last, but certainly not least in any way, ALL of this happened on the day Portia's baby made her arrival into the fictional Port Charles world. Of course, Jordan's badgering sent Portia into labor and of course, Jordan had to deliver her rival's baby on the living room floor. This is a soap opera and we wouldn't have it any other way.

But Baby Boy Ashford is a special little man. Sure, if the paternity test was right, he is going to have to live with Curtis as his dad and live up to impossibly high and hypocritical standards, but he is here and so gosh darn cute. He is also the first Black baby to be born on camera in General Hospital's 63-year history. And that's the way to win a never-ending day during one heck of a week. Here's to 16,000 more!
