5 General Hospital Actors Who Appeared in Seinfeld

Seinfeld was a unique sitcom because it was touted as a show "that's about nothing." Nevertheless, all of that nothingness added up to nine seasons of laughs. Here are five General Hospital actors who appeared in Seinfeld.

James Patrick Stuart

Die-hard Seinfeld fans and GH fans will remember that James Patrick Stuart played the guy who was in love with The Eagles' song Desperado. His character, Brett, was Elaine's (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) boyfriend in an episode called "The Checks."

Stuart has appeared in numerous other hit sitcoms, such as Frasier, Spin City, Two Guys and a Girl, Hot in Cleveland, and Still Standing. He has also made his mark in countless prime-time dramas, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, How To Get Away With Murder, The Mentalist, and the controversial medical drama Nip/Tuck.

For all the rom-com lovers out there, did you know that Stuart also appeared in the smash hit motion picture, Pretty Woman? He was a bellhop at the hotel where Julia Roberts' and Richard Gere's characters stayed. And as if all of those acting credits weren't amazing enough, he also played a doctor in the 2009 romantic comedy It's Complicated, which featured the star-studded cast of Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, and Rita Wilson.

Rena Sofer

Rena Sofer was in a Seinfeld episode called "The Muffin Tops," in which she played Mary Anne, the head of the New York Tourist Bureau. She mistakenly believes that George (Jason Alexander) is a tourist from Arizona, which he goes along with so that she can take him on a "date" as part of her job. No surprise there, considering that George's love life was a disaster most of the time. He didn't have the easiest time finding and hanging on to women. Look what happened to his fiancée, Susan. She died after licking the envelopes for their wedding invitations!

Like James Patrick Stuart, Sofer also appeared in CSI, CSI: Miami, Two Guys and a Girl, and Spin City. She was also in the mega-hit Friends, Just Shoot Me!, 24, Two and a Half Men, and the 2002 TV remake of the classic horror film Carrie. But many of us will always remember Sofer for her role as Eve, an old friend of Amanda's (Heather Locklear) in the 90s prime-time hit Melrose Place.

Blake Gibbons

Longtime GH fans remember Coleman (Blake Gibbons), who owned and worked at Jake's Bar, which he later renamed The Floating Rib. Gibbons played in a Seinfeld episode called "The Summer of George." He played Lyle, a guy who was involved in a triangle of sorts with Jerry and a woman named Lanette (Amanda Peet). When Jerry goes to Lanette's apartment to pick her up for their date, he finds another man (Lyle) living there. Imagine his surprise!

Gibbons has appeared in The Young and the Restless, Charmed, The O.C., The Golden Girls, Baywatch, Dexter, The Pretender, and Murder, She Wrote, as well as many other television shows and movies. He had a significant role in the 1990 TV series Elvis, which chronicled the life of Elvis Presley in the early years of his success.

Sonya Eddy

General Hospital hasn't felt quite the same ever since both Epiphany and her portrayer, Sonya Eddy, passed away a few years ago. As head nurse of the hospital from 2006 to 2022, Epiphany always did a remarkable job keeping the staff in line. Whenever she heard two co-workers bickering over a personal issue, she wasted no time telling them to get back to work. We miss you, Epiphany!

Eddy appeared in two Seinfeld episodes as a character whose name (oddly) was Rebecca DeMornay. Was that a nod to the famous actress with the same name who starred in Risky Business and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle? Rebecca is a charity worker who appears in both "The Muffin Tops" episode and in an episode called "The Bookstore." In the latter one, she threatens to beat up George if he doesn't remove his book from her thrift store, a book that the bookstore owner made him buy because George brought it into the restroom.

Eddy appeared in many sitcoms and prime-time dramas, including Gilmore Girls, Reba, Monk, House, Joan of Arcadia, Malcolm in the Middle, ER, Desperate Housewives, and Glee. She also appeared in the motion pictures Patch Adams (1998), Seven Pounds (2008), and Matchstick Men (2003), among other films.

Richard Burgi

Richard Burgi was the second actor who played Paul Hornsby, a serial killer, on GH, from 2015 to 2016. The first one was Paul Satterfield, from 1991 to 1994.

Burgi appeared in a Seinfeld episode called "The Hamptons," in which Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer (Michael Richards) all travel to the Hamptons for the weekend to visit a friend's newborn baby. When they arrive, they all agree that the baby is "ugly." When Burgi, who plays a doctor, calls Elaine "breathtaking," she is horrified when he describes the baby in the same way.

Burgi has appeared in numerous soap operas, including One Life to Live, Guiding Light, Another World, As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, and Days of our Lives. He was in hit TV shows from the 80s, including Who's the Boss?, Jake and the Fatman, Matlock, and Empty Nest. He also had roles in 90s shows, such as One Tree Hill, Desperate Housewives, Devious Maids, Touched By an Angel, and Burn Notice, among others. He has appeared in countless motion pictures, including Fun With Dick and Jane and In Her Shoes.

It's always fun when we find GH actors who've appeared in hit TV shows of yesteryear, as well as current prime-time shows. Seinfeld was one of a kind and always will be.
