General Hospital’s Willow Tait, played by Katelyn MacMullen, agreed to serve as the interim congresswoman in place of Congressman Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), who is unable to hold office due to his medical condition. While Mayor Laura (Genie Francis) wanted Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) to take up this position, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) set up Willow as his stooge to manipulate the government to his advantage. Time will show whether Willow handles the responsible position well. Meanwhile, some other Port Charles residents would make good candidates for Congress.
5 characters who can run for office on General Hospital
1) Trina Robinson

While Trina is not running for the office, she would make a great congresswoman. Her strong sense of justice and high morals set her apart from the crooked crowd. Trina’s proactive attitude and intelligence make her well-suited to serving people. Moreover, she recently demonstrated her investigative skills by looking into Drew’s real shooter.
Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) also shows good skills in people management and resilience. She can navigate tricky situations with grace. Also, Trina adjusts well to people of different natures, from Mayor Laura to Ava Jerome. Her past experiences, such as losing Spencer and her mother, Portia’s lies have shaped her maturity, making her grounded and ideal for the office.
2) Molly Lansing-Davis

A daughter of seasoned attorneys and a lawyer herself, Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) will likely make a conscientious congresswoman. While her legal standing and strategic intelligence will help plan policies for the townspeople, she has a clean image to bolster her credibility.
Molly has a reasonable, non-dramatic personality, which she developed after navigating her personal health issues and a dysfunctional family. Her biological connection to the royal and criminal families, such as the Cassadines and the Corinthos, shapes her resilience to handle high-stakes situations.
3) Curtis Ashford

Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) is a DEA agent-turned-investigator-turned-corporate man. He has a complete understanding of the law and the local economy, making him a good candidate to run for the office. Strict in his moral compass, Curtis hates lies, something that destroyed both of his marriages. His journey on GH saw him recover from severe spinal injury and addiction. As such, the townspeople may find him inspirational.
Moreover, Curtis has funds to support his career as the owner of The Savoy and the CEO of Aurora Media. Also, he can use Aurora to promote his work. However, Curtis’ recent entanglement with his two former wives and the possibility of fathering two children may complicate matters.
4) Ned Quartermaine

A Quartermaine by birth, Ned (Wally Kurth) would make a formidable congressman due to his steadfast loyalty to his family and his town. As the owner and CEO of ELQ, Ned is an astute businessman who demonstrates political maneuvering and business acumen.
After surviving his recent heart attack, Ned wants to reclaim his life with grit and worthiness. As such, as a political figure, he may become a relentless, driven, and stable public figure. Incidentally, Ned is a former mayor.
5) Jordan Ashford

Jordan Ashford, currently portrayed by Tanisha Harper, makes a strong impression as a political figure. Her past work experiences prove her strength and resilience in tough situations. The former commissioner and deputy mayor was an undercover DEA agent and is currently working secretly to trap Sidwell.
Since Jordan has worked closely with the law, government, and criminals, she may help keep crime under control in Port Charles if she takes up the role of a congresswoman. Some of her valuable traits include being open to taking risks, dedicated to her missions, and being grounded.
General Hospital: 5 characters who are wrong for the congress
1) Carly Spencer

Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is a courageous woman and a forceful personality. However, she is not the right candidate for public office. Her work experience surrounds owning the Metro Court Hotel, running Bobbie’s, and assisting Sonny in his illegal business. However, Carly has no experience in public service.
Moreover, Carly has a hot-tempered, volatile temperament, ill-suited to government officials. She is impulsive and makes decisions based on personal biases. Besides Carly’s ties with the mob world, she has had a history of scheming, lying, and manipulation.
2) Nina Reeves

Nina Reeves, portrayed by Cynthia Watros, is a media mogul as the Editor-in-Chief at Crimson, a fashion magazine. However, she would be unsuited for the role of a congresswoman for various reasons. Primarily, Nina is known to have lied, kept secrets, and schemed for personal benefits.
On the one hand, Nina’s longstanding feud with Carly will likely influence her actions even while in office. On the other hand, she may be susceptible to manipulations by Willow or Sidwell, as she is currently supporting her daughter’s political career. All of this shows that Nina may not remain objective as a congresswoman.
3) Ava Jerome

Antagonist Ava Jerome (Maura West) would make a poor choice for a congresswoman. Besides her connection to the famous criminal family of the Jeromes, Ava has been known to use every sinister weapon, from scheming, lying, blackmailing, to even murder, for her personal gains and vendetta.
Throughout Ava’s long journey on General Hospital, she was never seen helping the public or proactively doing good for others. Her chaotic past and criminal history would make her an unpopular public figure. Ava often works with shady partners and is currently developing new connections with mobster Sidwell.
4) Portia Robinson

Although a great doctor and holding an important position at the hospital, Portia’s (Brook Kerr) lack of moral standards makes her a poor candidate for Congress. Her run in Port Charles has been riddled with schemes, blackmail, immoral actions, and hypocrisy.
Portia also doesn’t hesitate to misuse power. Her consistent lies demonstrate that she can be both impulsive and reckless. She lacks the morality to choose professional duties over personal revenge. With her ethical lapses and faulty decision-making, Portia will act in bad faith and get sucked into dirty politics.
5) Martin Grey

While a seasoned attorney and Mayor Laura’s brother, Martin Grey (Michael E Knight), is true to his name as a grey character. He assisted Congressman Drew with many unlawful actions. On a personal level, Martin’s journey has been fraught with forgery, fraud, and dishonesty. While an entertaining part of the General Hospital canvas, Martin’s schemes and tactics against Tracy are a perfect example of why he’s an immoral lawyer.
Martin’s past shows his tendency to associate with dubious characters like Drew and Nelle Benson. With compromised integrity and unethical acts, Martin does not deserve to be in the Congress office.
