One of the longest-running daily soaps, General Hospital, has seen a slew of characters come and go in Port Charles over the years. While some departures felt unfair and were heart wrenching, others were a good riddance. Moreover, many supercouple breakups and the deaths of lovable characters have disappointed fans. On the other hand, some villains spiced up the storyline but created chaos in their wake, with fans relieved when they left the show.

With the recent returns of Britt and Nathan, General Hospital fans may look forward to some more revivals of favorite characters while hoping some others stay dead.

General Hospital: 5 characters that fans want revived

1) Spencer Cassadine

Last portrayed by Nicholas Chavez, Spencer Cassadine was a lovable, albeit complex character. Some highlights of his character were his devotion to his brother, Ace, and his relationship with Trina. Although caught between the Cassadine family’s crooked behavior and Esme’s manipulations, Spencer turned out to be a real hero.

His true love for Trina pushed him to sacrifice his life to save her from Esme in 2024. As such, fans grieved his death as much as Trina did. Since his presumed death, General Hospital fans have been waiting to see him back in Port Charles. With Trina moving on with Kai, Spencer’s return may start a new love triangle.

2) Morgan Corinthos

Last played by Bryan Craig, Morgan Corinthos was Sonny and Carly’s son, named after his parents’ mutual friend, Jason Morgan. He inherited his father’s bipolar disorder, which Ava manipulated by switching his medication with placebos. This led to Morgan’s mental health degradation.

Morgan stole Julian Jerome’s car, which was rigged with a bomb, and presumably died in the resulting explosion. Considering he was going through a troubled mental condition, his unanticipated death left Port Charles residents and fans heartbroken. Fans liked the disturbed young adult whose desire for love and validation paved the way for betrayals.

3) Sam McCall

Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) was a fan favorite, particularly after her transformation from a con artist to a responsible media mogul and mother. Her romance with Jason Morgan was much loved by General Hospital fans. Sam eventually sacrificed her love for Jason to protect their son, Danny, from the ill effects of Jason’s involvement with the mob world.

Sam moved on with Dante and donated part of her liver to Lulu before getting engaged. However, Cyrus’s sinister and misguided plan killed her off with an overdose of digitalis. Her death destroyed multiple lives, including those of Scout and Danny. “JaSam” fans and Kelly Monaco’s fans rallied to bring her back in the show.

4) Julian Jerome

The youngest scion of crime lord Victor Jerome, Julian, struggled to balance his life between the crime world and being a decent citizen. General Hospital fans saw him commit crimes under duress, sometimes pushed by his sister, Olivia, and at others, by Cyrus. Julian was a loving father and a loving grandfather who wanted a settled, mob-free life.

Julian’s tragic end in a mob shootout and his last regrets about past crimes made him endearing to viewers. Many fans find his sudden, violent end unfair. As such, Julian’s resurrection would have approval from viewers, although his shot and maimed dead body was recovered from water and identified by Jason.

5) Dex Heller

The bodyguard-turned-cop, Dex, played by Evan Hofer, died in a plot involving Cyrus. The smart cop who withstood violent and tough situations was tricked into death by an overdose of digitalis. His death gave his girlfriend a new mission, and Josslyn eliminated Cyrus, then became a WSB agent.

Although Josslyn has moved on with her life, Dex’s return may spice things up. Moreover, Dex showed a lot of potential as Sonny’s bodyguard and as a cop under Dante. Fans believe his potential was wasted by his sudden death and want him back on General Hospital.

5 dead characters on General Hospital that fans don’t want returning

1) Peter August

Peter August (Wes Ramsay) played a villain who left fans feeling icky during his story arc. Faison’s son, a crooked character himself, tried to change for his love of Maxie. However, all of Peter’s past crimes were exposed before Maxie, and they were ready to get married.

During Peter’s arc in Port Charles, his numerous deaths and revivals were part of the show. Fans may not appreciate another revival after the villain has met his end.

2) Shiloh Archer

Shiloh was possibly the creepiest character on General Hospital. Played by Coby Ryan McLaughlin, Shiloh was a cult leader of Dawn of Day and a serial molester. He destroyed many lives, including that of Willow. His habit of targeting and terrorizing vulnerable people made fans dislike him immensely.

While Shiloh’s death by a flare gun would make resurrection out of question, fans would not want him revived for any reason. Moreover, his arc got a specific closure after his evil run.

3) Nelle Benson

Chloe Lanier’s Nelle Benson had a long, sinister run in Port Charles. The broken character was a definite villain. Nelle was involved in numerous crimes, from kidnapping babies to killing victims. She had no loyalty and targeted people for no real reason.

However, Nelle’s arc was too chaotic for fans to wish a return. With Nina’s other daughter, Willow, playing the villain in her current storyline, having Nelle back may be an overload. Moreover, Nelle’s return will likely not bring any creative transformation to her and may involve her committing her usual crimes again.

4) Franco Baldwin

Franco's death remained a mystery on General Hospital I Image: ABC

Franco Baldwin, played by Roger Howarth, saw a sudden retcon from a rapist and murderer to a patient with a brain tumor, who committed crimes under the influence of the medical condition. As such, after treatment, he became a good person and a loving father. Franco was later paired with Elizabeth.

While his death was a painful and unresolved mystery, very few fans appreciated the retconning. Moreover, Franco’s demise was connected to the conclusion of the Peter August arc. As such, fans may not want him resurrected.

5) Kiki Jerome

Kiki's arc had a big impact on her mother on General Hospital I Image: ABC

Last played by Hayley Erin, Kiki Jerome’s end was both tragic and unexpected. However, it had a huge impact on Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) arc. The grief impacted Ava’s future decisions and actions.

However, a return may undermine the significance that Kiki’s death had on Ava’s arc. Moreover, Kiki’s characterization lacked development at the time of her murder. Also, the fact that Kiki’s dead body was clearly shown on the show makes a comeback difficult. As a result, General Hospital fans may not want Kiki’s return to the soap.
