General Hospital has presented complex characters for years who have moved from one end of the grey spectrum to the other. Based on how they react to adverse situations and their own ambitions and greed, many characters have overturned fan perceptions about them by their actions.

While some have been benevolent despite being on the wrong side of the law, such as Sonny Corinthos, others have taken the good qualities to a new low, making them villains like Drew Cain. The twists and turns of the current storyline have the potential to turn some harmless characters into sinister villains, while some other characters may choose to work for justice and become the surprising heroes.

Longtime General Hospital fans have seen Michael Corinthos (now played by Rory Gibson) as the hot-headed son of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright). However, despite some crude crimes to his credit, Michael has never been a full-blown villain.

His inherent sense of justice has pushed him to even challenge his adoptive father, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). However, his recent change in strategies has made him a scheming baddie. His desperate need to take revenge on his former wife, Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), while preserving his image of a forgiving husband, makes him a sinister character.

Currently, he is scheming ways to push his brother-in-law, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), as a bait towards Willow, knowing that it may destroy his sister’s marriage. He may go to any length to bring his plan to fruition.

Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) was a morally correct P.I.-turned-businessman, with a strong sense of justice. He is known to dislike lies and secrets. However, his aversion for secrecies has become his enemy.

His obsession with the car accident that disfigured Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) has led him to investigate other drivers on the road. When Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) refused to give away his destination, Curtis assumed that the doctor was keeping secrets because he was the culprit driver.

However, unable to pin the blame on Isaiah, who is incidentally dating Curtis’s former wife, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), Curtis assaulted Isaiah during an altercation, leading to multiple fractures on the surgeon’s active hand. If the legal system finds Curtis guilty of assault and battery, he may end up in prison. However, Curtis may take this obsession further to try and destroy Isaiah.

Escort Jacinda Bracken’s recent twist in the story arc has rattled General Hospital fans. While initially, a minor character used by Nina (Cynthia Watros) to defame Congressman Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), she came into focus when she became Michael’s fake alibi for the Drew shooting case. Soon viewers saw Michael and Jacinda come closer in a genuine romance as the latter formed a good rapport with little Wiley (Viron Weaver).

However, recent episode of Thursday, June 18, 2026, saw Jacinda summon Councilman Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) to meet her at his room. Surprisingly, instead of Jacinda, mobster Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) met Ezra in the room.

This hints at Jacinda’s secret connection with Sidwell which has remained hidden so far. With this amazing process of keeping secrets while planting herself in the Quartermaine household and close to the Corinthos will make Jacinda more dangerous than anticipated.

Since his early years in Port Charles, Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean) was known to possess the reckless qualities of his father, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). This pushed Ethan to walk the delicate line on the other side of law. His recent return to town has thrown up numerous cues to point at an anti-hero role for the Spencer scion.

Firstly, his secrecies and explanations surrounding baby Phoebe and her adoption seem to too elaborate and suspicious. He revealed his connection only after he was caught. Moreover, his insistence on a closed adoption seemed dubious.

On the other hand, his sudden need for financial support and a job from Sonny may not be completely true. As a former con-artist, Ethan may have ulterior motives. Finally, he swapped his DNA sample with another, which calls for misgivings.

5) Brook Lynn Quartemaine

As General Hospital viewers know, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) is a straight-talking and upright, true Quartermaine. As such, she has one mission, and that is to protect her family. She has been a good wife to Chase and is dreaming of being a good mother to Phoebe. However, recent events threaten to shatter her dreams.

With Michael orchestrating close interactions between his former wife, Willow, and BLQ’s husband, Chase, Brook Lynn’s marriage may be in danger. While Willow is making a reputation of going after men for her convenience, Chase believes Willow blindly. This may give the congresswoman a chance to manipulate the cop.

If Chase gets involved with Willow, BLQ will lose the opportunity to adopt Phoebe and provide the baby with a stable family. In a bid to keep Willow at bay, BLQ will resort to some approaches that may not fall in the legal ambit. Her desperation may push Brook Lynn to become an antagonist in the upcoming story arc.

Jack Brennan (now played by Chris McKenna) has been a smooth-talking WSB chief whose Pikeman connections and switching allegiances made him a pseudo-villain. However, after coming to Port Charles, he developed a weakness. He genuinely fell in love with Carly while recruiting her daughter as an agent into the WSB. Although he kept this a secret from Carly, he remained worried about Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) safety. He was truly hurt to realize that Carly dumped him and moved on.

On one hand, he is smarting under Carly’s rejection, while on the other, he was outsmarted by his boss, Ross Cullum. Suspicious of Cullum, Brennan tried to get intel on him but failed. In the meantime, a scuffle with Valentin, landed him in a med-induced paralysis. Almost out of the paralysis, Brennan communicated to Valentin the next needed steps to save Port Charles.

The upcoming General Hospital storyline may find Brennan working in tandem with his nemesis, Valentin, to take down Cullum and save Josslyn. This will be his chance to be a hero for the town and for Carly.

While unable to form any rapport with her over-protective mother, the teenager Charlotte has learnt to take lessons from the consequences of her family’s evil actions. Back in town, she has bonded with her brother, Rocco, Danny, and other teens and young adults in town.

With the right kind of connections, she may eventually side with the good. Currently, she plans to defy her father’s advice and stop Cullum’s vile actions. She wants to fight to give Danny’s father justice while keeping her own out of Steinmauer.

Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) was the surprise hero in the current General Hospital storyline. While a pure-hearted and morally upright doctor, he has stayed away from the crime world as a deliberate decision. However, his recent heroic actions come from a vigilante-like move out of his comfort zone.

As fans know, Lucas found love in Marco Rios (Adrian Achondo) and moved in with him into Wyndemere castle. However, Marco’s brutal death left him distraught as Lucas considered vengeance. As such, Lucas collaborated with Mayor Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny by stepping away from his passive doctor role to place his life as a bait to catch Sidwell.

Fans saw Lucas coming forward for the sting operation driven by love and loss. Knowing that his life was in danger, Lucas made a great sacrifice. This proves his heroic capabilities. Whether he turns into a true hero for Port Charles in the coming days remains to be seen.
