On General Hospital, we have a variety of storylines underway, but there are several characters who seem like they need to be involved in a story or they at least need a change in direction. Here are five GH characters who need to be involved in a new storyline.
Diane Miller

We can't remember when we last saw GH's Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy), but we know it's been a while. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) sure could use her best friend and fellow legal eagle, Diane, to confide in about all of the aggravation that Drew (Cameron Mathison) is putting the Davis women through.
Doesn't Diane have a secret copy of Sam's (Kelly Monaco) will that no one else knows about? If she returns to the GH canvas and shows it to Alexis, then perhaps Alexis will find some shocking information in it. Maybe the will states that Sam chose someone else besides Drew to be Scout's (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) legal guardian. That would be the most wonderful surprise that we've gotten on the show this year.
Gio Palmieri

Now that Trina (Tabyana Ali) is having serious doubts about pursuing music as a career, where does that leave Gio (Giovanni Mazza)? He and Trina were a singing and guitar-playing duo for about five minutes. But now, it looks like it may be ending just as fast as it began.
So many of us GH fans would love to see Gio play the violin again. He had a wonderful talent for it and he was passionate about it. We've seen pop singers in other soaps before, but it's rare to see a soap character who plays the violin or any other classical instrument. When Gio played the violin at Brook Lynn and Chase's (Josh Swickard) wedding two years ago, we were awestruck. It was pure magic, and we could see how much Gio loved it. Can we dare hope that he will finally return to his violin-playing days?
Ric Lansing

Even though we're seeing Ric (Rick Hearst) in a personal storyline involving a potential love triangle with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), it's time we see him take on a new legal case. It feels like he's losing his edge. He's been so worried about impressing Elizabeth that he's even starting to ask Lulu (Alexa Havins) for advice about his love life, which is odd because he's never done that before. Is he going to fall for Lulu next?
Whatever happens in Ric's personal life, we need to see him in the courtroom again. Now that he is on Sonny's (Maurice Benard) good side and acting as one of his attorneys, how will Sonny get Ric involved in his battle with Drew? We know things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. Will we have a Ric vs. Martin storyline, since Martin (Michael E. Knight) is Drew's attorney? Those two would make for excellent legal opponents!
Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine

When was the last time we saw Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) on the GH canvas? It feels like she should have been present during the recent revelation about Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) being the other driver in Curtis and Jordan's (Tanisha Harper) car accident. Olivia is Brook Lynn's stepmother and she can give Brook Lynn some much-needed support right now.
Ned (Wally Kurth) gave his daughter, Brook Lynn, some wonderful fatherly guidance, and he even tried to talk some sense into Chase (Josh Swickard). But considering that Olivia is Ned's wife, and since she has a good stepmotherly relationship with Brook Lynn, we need to see Olivia involved in this storyline as well. When everyone learned the shocking news and was chastising Brook Lynn, it felt odd that Olivia wasn't there with the other Quartermaines. We all know that Olivia is very direct and outspoken, so it would be interesting to hear her reaction to Brook Lynn's secret.
Jason Morgan

Even though Jason (Steve Burton) has a lot of story going on at the moment, he still doesn't have a clue what he wants to do for a job, now that he severed his professional ties with Sonny. It's been two months since he returned from Jakarta, but there hasn't been any forward movement in that part of his storyline.
However, we do love that he is stepping up as a father. When he forbid Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) from driving a car and from operating the speedboat for six months, we applauded Jason for finally giving Danny some strong discipline and tough love. He even made sure that Danny understood why he was being punished. Way to go, Jason! Keep up the good work.
We also love that Jason is being a caring and true-blue friend to Anna (Finola Hughes) during her mental breakdown. But some fans just feel disappointed since his return from prison. Even though he is still playing the hero, running to Britt's (Kelly Thiebaud) rescue as he did, some longtime fans miss the edge that the iconic Jason Morgan had for decades. Perhaps he could consider a career as a private detective? He has good instincts, which would be key in a job like that one.
