General Hospital is filled with unresolved storylines as Port Charles faces new challenges every week. Between Lulu Spencer's big story about Willow, Drew, and Sidwell, Trina's stalker story, and Josslyn's vendetta against Sonny, some storylines have been going on for months if not years with no outcome or explanation in sight.
5 Prolonged General Hospital Storylines That Need a Swift Resolution
1) Willow shot Drew but no retribution as yet

As General Hospital fans (and major PC players know), Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) shot Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Although accused and tried for the crime, her mother, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), pushed WSB agent Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) to tamper with the incriminating evidence. This helped Willow's lawyer, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), get her exonerated.
However, other than Alexis, many more people in Port Charles now know that Willow shot Drew. While Lulu Spencer's (Alexa Havins) recent article accused Willow of injecting Drew with a paralytic drug, the shooting story remains buried. With two witnesses and more people in the know, it is time to connect Willow's crimes together and bring her to justice.
2) Elizabeth and Dante's flirtation is not going anywhere

General Hospital has been trying to build a romantic triangle involving Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). With Ric ready to pop the question to Liz with a ring and acting jealous and possessive, the story seemed to take root for a brief time. However, Elizabeth now shares a practical and mature friendship with Dante that seems to be getting deeper.
Liz and Dante are being thrust together in multiple situations, from Dante taking off his pants to let Liz look at a knee injury to their more recent after-work party at Lucas' place. However, their chemistry is not building to any real story and has left the storyline in a limbo.
3) The ambiguity behind Drew's strong hatred for Danny

General Hospital viewers have been witnessing Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) being subjected to Drew's immense dislike for the teenager. While Danny tries to stay clear of Drew's path, his half-sister, Scout Cain (Kayden Brenna Tokarski), has been yo-yoing between feeling for her brother and using Danny to hide her romance with Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr). Drew's aversion towards Danny even prompted him to get a restraining order for the teenager.
While General Hospital fans know that Drew hates his twin, and Danny's father, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), pulling their children into this personal animosity makes little sense. Drew's jealousy towards Jason stems his brother being raised as a Quartermaine when he grew up in foster care. However, projecting this hatred onto Jason's son may have another reason which either needs an explanation or a complete resolution.
4) The mystery behind Phoebe's biological father

Since the time baby Phoebe (Luna and Lucia Creighton) was born and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) tried to adopt her, there were questions about her parentage. While Phoebe's mother, Delilah (Lily Cardone), died at childbirth, a chance photograph pointed attorney Alexis towards Ethan Lovett (Nathan Dean/Christian Howard). Ethan initially admitted to being the father, insisting on a closed adoption, before disclosing to Ava Jerome (Maura West) that Phoebe was not his biological child.
Later, Hudson Parker (Troy Lennon Appel) was seen asking Ethan about Delilah's baby, a fact that Ethan strove to keep a secret. However, when in Port Charles, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) disclosed all details about baby Phoebe's adoption to Hudson, who started taking more interest in the baby. While fans have been wondering whether Hudson could be Phoebe's biological parent, there is no hint about it in the plot yet. As such, the Phoebe parentage storyline has been dragging on for more than six months now.
5) The long-drawn custody battle over Avery

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is in a fix after Ava Jerome and Drew Cain managed to frame him for violence inside the Pentonville prison. Although Sonny has announced his exit from the mob, his family, friends, and the authorities tend to believe him to be the culprit in this incident because of the mobster's past reputation. At the same time, Ava used this as an excuse to stop her daughter Avery Corinthos from visiting her father, Sonny.
Caught between her parents' fight, Avery does not seem to have an independent story arc on the show. It is high time that Avery was brought back and this long-drawn battle was resolved.
