Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) found herself at the center of a shocking new twist when she was kidnapped and locked in a room with Josslyn Jacks. As viewers know, the renowned doctor was abducted by WSB Director Ross Cullum after Britt skipped town, leaving the secret cold fusion project incomplete. Realizing Britt's brilliance came from somewhere, Cullum turned to her equally gifted mother as a replacement.
As Obrecht and Josslyn shared information, the doctor learned that her beloved son, Nathan West, remains long dead and that the man posing as him is actually Nathan's twin, Cassius Faison, the baby who was believed to have died at birth. Initially devastated by the deception, Liesl is now focused on saving what remains of her family. Whether she makes it out of captivity remains to be seen.
5 characters who may rescue Liesl
1) Valentin Cassadine

As fans know, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is determined to take down the Cullum-Sidwell alliance. While he remains a fugitive, he is one of the few people who knows every nook and cranny of Wyndemere and may be the best chance of rescuing those being held captive beneath the castle. Moreover, he knows Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) well and is capable of devising a strategy against him.
However, as Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) pointed out, Wyndemere is crawling with WSB agents and others searching for clues after Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) escaped arrest. Valentin may choose to wait for a less obvious route inside. If he uses the catacombs, he could be the one who discovers Liesl and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and ultimately leads them to safety.
2) Lucas Jones

Recently, Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) played the hero by serving as bait to lure Sidwell into criminal activity. Working alongside Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis), he helped orchestrate a plan to catch Sidwell red-handed. As such, he has already shown the courage needed to make another bold move and potentially rescue Liesl.
Since he previously helped Britt obtain medication without Ross Cullum's knowledge, Lucas may already recognize the danger looming over Liesl. Josslyn is also his niece, and the two share a close bond. Moreover, he is familiar with Wyndemere's layout and may be able to navigate the castle and its tunnels more effectively than most.
3) Carly Spencer

As fans know, Carly is desperate to get Josslyn back. After recognizing her daughter's ring during a recent visit to Wyndemere, she became convinced that Josslyn is being held somewhere inside the castle. Given Carly's fiery determination, she is unlikely to stop until she finds her daughter. To navigate the property more effectively, she may seek help from Valentin or Lucas if necessary.
If Carly ventures into the catacombs in search of Josslyn, she could discover Liesl locked in the same room. As such, her rescue mission may end up saving more than just her daughter.
4) Sonny Corinthos

For a long time, Sonny's charisma has taken a backseat. After being pushed around by Sidwell and watching Ross Cullum force Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) out of Port Charles, he needs the right opportunity to make a heroic move. As fans know, Sonny has both the courage and the resources to rescue those being held at Wyndemere.
However, he first needs a way into the castle. While Sidwell owns the property, he is currently on the run after being caught shooting Lucas. As a result, Cullum has assumed control and is unlikely to grant Sonny access. In that scenario, Sonny may need an accomplice to create an opening. Whether he turns to Laura for a much-needed diversion remains to be seen.
5) Jack Brennan

The former WSB chief has transformed from a morally gray character into someone with a stronger conscience. As fans know, Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) had been secretly investigating Ross Cullum because he never fully trusted his boss. After the Sidwell fiasco, Brennan may recognize the danger Cullum poses to both Port Charles and Josslyn. In an effort to bring him down, he could decide to infiltrate Wyndemere and accidentally discover Josslyn and Liesl being held captive. Alternatively, Carly may alert him to Josslyn's whereabouts inside the castle.
While Brennan is currently hospitalized and pretending to be paralyzed following a stroke, he recently revealed to Willow that he remains physically capable. Moreover, he struck a deal with Congresswoman Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) to stop her from administering paralytic drugs. As such, Brennan may soon be in a position to get back on his feet, wage war against Cullum, and potentially rescue both captives.
5 characters who could fail to help Liesl
1) Cassius Faison

As Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) recently revealed to Josslyn, he wants out, but his hands are tied. After being raised in secret for his father's project, he has spent years fooling both his mother and the rest of Port Charles by posing as his deceased twin, Nathan. He also claimed that he agreed to comply with Cullum and Sidwell's demands in order to secure a steady supply of Huntington's medication for his sister.
However, his approach has been to cooperate with the villains in hopes of protecting everyone. As such, he may not be in a position to save his mother. Just as he allowed Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) to continue working on the cold fusion project, he may encourage Liesl to do the same rather than risk provoking the people holding her captive.
2) Josslyn Jacks

As viewers know, Josslyn is a trained WSB agent and possesses many of the skills needed to rescue a hostage. However, she is also a captive herself. Having been held longer than Liesl, she has already been caught attempting to escape once. As a result, tighter security measures are likely in place to keep her contained.
Although Josslyn is courageous enough to stand up to Cullum, she may be unable to save herself and Liesl without outside assistance. With only Cassius seemingly on her side at the moment, overcoming the dangers of captivity and orchestrating a successful escape may prove impossible.
3) Dante Falconeri

Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) finds himself in a unique position. While serving as PCPD commissioner, he is being completely misled by someone he trusts. Dante has no idea that Nathan West is dead and that Cassius has been impersonating the detective. He is also unaware that Cassius' loyalty lies with Sidwell and Cullum. As a result, Dante entrusted "Nathan" with transporting Sidwell to the police station, only for Cassius to secretly help the mobster escape before staging an attack on himself.
At the same time, Dante is consumed with worry over his son, Rocco (Finn Carr), who skipped town with Britt. Since Rocco shot Cullum and the WSB director is searching for his attacker, Dante has more than enough personal problems on his plate. Moreover, he has begun questioning Sonny and Laura's connection to Professor Dalton's (Daniel Goddard) murder. With so many distractions pulling him in different directions, Dante's judgment could be compromised at the worst possible time, delaying any effort to rescue Liesl.
4) Nina Reeves

So far, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is unaware of the danger facing Liesl Obrecht. Given how close she is to her aunt, Nina would likely become concerned if she realized that Liesl had gone missing. As such, she could alert Brennan or begin asking questions about her whereabouts. She may also turn to "Nathan" for answers, only for him to offer a convincing explanation.
Unfortunately, Nina is being kept in the dark. She may accept the explanation at face value and drop the issue altogether. Even if she senses that something is wrong, she would likely confide in her daughter. In turn, Willow may encourage her to stay away from the situation rather than dig any deeper.
5) Jordan Ashford

As fans know, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), the former DEA agent and undercover investigator into Sidwell's activities, would have been an ideal candidate to save Liesl and Josslyn from captivity. Since Cullum and Sidwell do not view her as a threat, she could have used that advantage to investigate Wyndemere's tunnels and potentially uncover the captives hidden within the catacombs.
Trained to handle high-pressure situations, Jordan would have been more than capable of leading a rescue off Spoon Island. However, she is currently caught up in a messy personal situation that has pulled her attention elsewhere. After surviving a car crash, she has been drawn into the ongoing conflict involving Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), and Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson). As such, she is in no position to mount a rescue mission anytime soon.
