5 GH Stars Who Have Played More Than One Character

The long-running ABC soap, General Hospital, has seen some legendary stars who played multiple characters on the show. With a myriad of characters moving in and out of the show, some actors like Michael Easton and Anthony Geary have had the opportunity to bring more than one character to life.

5 Actors Who Portrayed Multiple Characters on GH

1) Anthony Geary

The well-loved character of Luke Spencer was portrayed by Anthony Geary, famously paired with his lady love, Laura (Genie Francis). Besides this legendary pairing, Luke also had other romantic relationships, including one with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). Geary portrayed Luke onscreen between 1978 and 2015.

Within this period, he also played Luke's cousin and lookalike, Bill Eckert. In Luke's final storyline, Geary played Tim Spencer, Luke's father, with whom Luke had a history of abuse.

2) Michael Easton

Michael Easton famously played the two popular soap doctors, Silas Clay and Hamilton Finn. His more recent character, Hamilton Finn, the elder brother of Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), impressed fans for battling addiction while raising his daughter, Violet. However, Easton's run on the soap ended in 2024 when Finn and Violet moved away.

Besides playing the two doctors in different storylines, Easton also played Caleb Morley in the GH spinoff, Port Charles. The character of Caleb had vampirish tendencies, giving Easton the opportunity to portray a TV vampire. Caleb was the alter ego of Silas' brother, Stephen Clay, also played by Easton. Besides these, Michael Easton also briefly played his One Life to Live character, John McBain, on General Hospital .

3) Sarah Brown

Sarah Brown was the actress who originated the central character of Carly Benson/Spencer, romancing Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). She played the role of the fiery Carly for almost five years on the soap.

Brown returned to the show in 2008 as Claudia Zacchara, the daughter of Anthony Zacchara, the mobster who was Sonny's rival. Sarah's Claudia was seen becoming involved in the mob war in Port Charles. Claudia got entangled with a pregnant Carly (Laura Wright) and tried to take away her newborn baby Josslyn, but was bludgeoned to death by Carly's son, Michael Corinthos. With Claudia's death, Sarah Brown exited General Hospital.

4) Roger Howarth

Roger Howarth played three unrelated characters on General Hospital for more than a decade. His first character on GH was Todd Manning, a role he portrayed for a year. Later, he became the recast for James Franco's character, Franco Baldwin.

After playing Franco for eight years and romancing Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), Franco was shot dead by Peter August (Wes Ramsey) in March 2021. After Franco's death, Howarth returned as Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt. However, Howarth's Austin was shot by unknown assailants in November 2023.

5) Jon Lindstrom

Actors portraying identical twins are expected to play both characters. That has been the case with Jon Lindstrom, who portrayed the twins Ryan Chamberlain and Kevin Collins. The interesting part was that Ryan was a murderous villain, while Kevin was a doctor and a good character.

Ryan arrived on the soap before Kevin, terrorizing Port Charles residents, while the character of Kevin debuted on the show in 1993. Kevin continued to move in and out of General Hospital and its spinoff, Port Charles. However, Ryan returned to the soap in 2018 and remained until his death in February 2023, after being killed by Mac Scorpio (John J. York). Jon Lindstrom played both the mild-mannered Kevin and the ruthless Ryan with equal aplomb.
