5 Questions General Hospital Needs to Answer About Jack Brennan’s Death

Jack Brennan, has died and exited General Hospital storyline stage left. However, only a few in town know that he is no longer among the living. While Charlotte and Danny discovered his dead body first and fled, Drew and Ava found him next and secretly buried him in the nature reserve by the Q crypt.

Since Ava spiked Jack's drink with the pill from Drew, she thinks Brennan drowned in the pool under the effects of the drug. However, there may be many other possibilities about Jack's pool death that the investigation needs to find out.

1) How did Jack get to the pool?

As General Hospital saw last month, Ava Jerome (Maura West) asked Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) to meet her at the Metro Court Hotel, on the pretext of sharing concern about Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). However, Ava slipped a crushd pill that were provided by Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) into Jack's drink.

Unfortunately, Jack did not pass out at the table but walked away to go to his room after an important phone call. Viewers saw him punching the elevator buttons as the drug started kicked. It is likely that he may have staggered out of the elevator at the wrong floor instead of in his room. But if he had not gone near the pool himself, there may be some unknown person who took him there.

Going by Ava's theory, the crushed sleeping pill that she mixed in Jack's drink kicked in after he left the table and walked towards the lift. If he was under the influence of the drug, he may have passed out as he was walking near the pool. That would make him fall into the water. However, why he would go near the pool when he wanted to go to his room would need an explanation.

In his heavily sedated condition, it is likely that Jack would not be able to swim in the pool water and would drown. That would make for an accidental death, although induced by the drugs in his system.

Jack's death calls for a deeper look at whether Jack went near the pool on his own or if he was with someone. It is likely that Jack met someone near the pool, or was asked to come there. They might have had a disagreement and a scuffle. Since Jack's reflexes would be down because of the drugs in his system, he may have lost his balance and fallen into the pool. In this condition, the other person would flee the spot, leaving Jack to drown and die.

Jack might have been smart enough to recognize the danger of going near the pool in his drugged condition. As such, he might not have gone to the pool himself but was dumped by someone who wanted to silence him.

There is a possibility that Jack's murderer may have accosted the WSB Chief while he was under the influence of the pills. Finding him too weak to fight back, the assailant could have killed Jack elsewhere and dragged him to the pool. They might have used the hotel's laundry basket, just like Drew did. That way they could avert the suspicion of a murder by making the scene of an accidental drowning.

One of the vital questions would be whether the crushed pills that Ava mixed in Jack's drink were sleeping pills as Drew claimed. Since Drew handed the pill to Ava, she had no way of knowing the actual components. As such, she presumably proceeded to put Jack to sleep and panicked when she found him dead.

However, the exact components of the pills would be known only to Drew and Marty in this equation. The former cutthroat politician may have decided to eliminate the source of his troubles. If Drew played a long game by using some other more potent pill, he may have removed his enemy while using Ava as the fall guy. This would be another level of conspiracy placing Drew as GH's next big villain.
