The volatile events on General Hospital's Spoon Island ended with multiple shocking twists as Ross Cullum's reign of terror came to a bloody end. WSB Director Z met Josslyn to inform her about the deaths of both Cassius and Cullum. He then convinced her to let Cassius take the fall as the villain while painting Cullum as the hero to save WSB’s image. Believing Cassius dead, Josslyn agreed. However, we saw Cassius alive as Z met him in a room that appeared to be at Ferncliff and made him an offr.

5 benefits of Cassius working under Z in WSB

1) Avoiding the death penalty or prison time

As fans already know, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) learned "Nathan's" (Ryan Paevey) real identity when he held her hostage in the bowels of Wyndemere. However, instead to fleeing town after saying goodbye to James (Gary James Fuller), Cassius returned to fight Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). Unfortunately, with Josslyn ready to testify that Cassius caused sinister schemes and all the mayhem, he is facing stringent punishment.

If Cassius accepts the offer to work for Z (John Oliver), he will be able to evade getting penalized. Since he will need to bear all the blame for the revival of the cold fusion project, various killings and Cullum’s death, it is in his best interest to join WSB as an operative and escape punishment.

2) Clearance to protect his family

GH fans have already seen that Cassius is devoted towards his family despite being raised away from his mother and sister. He continued cooperating with Cullum to ensure the supply of his sister’s medication. Moreover, he returned to Wyndemere to fight Cullum and save his mother.

As a WSB agent, Cassius will be officially allowed to protect his mother and sister. He can guard them even from a distance. He will also have access to the resources needed to look out for his family. Cassius may include Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and James West (Gary James Fuller) in his plan to care for.

3) Exploring a redemption arc

As GH viewers know, Cassius was kept a secret from his mother. His father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) raised him away from the rest of the family and kept his existence hidden. As such, Cassius stepped into his twin, Nathan’s shoes and fooled everyone who loved Nathan, including their mother, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Nathan’s son, James West. Expectedly, after his exposure, everyone will look at him with hatred.

However, if he takes up the powerful position of a WSB agent, he may embark on his redemption journey by giving his life to helping people. Moreover, he can distance himself from his father’s dark legacy by choosing a path of service.

4) Leveraging mastery in secrecies

With Cassius having to choose between punishment and joining WSB. To dodge penalty, Cassius may join the spy organization. He can also utilize his sneaky skills in his new role.

Cassius already pretended to be Nathan for months. He managed to fool his mother, his cousin, his wife, and his son. This hints at his superior ability at clandestine activities and hoodwinking people. This will become an asset when he works as a spy.

5) Capitalizing on connections

While being raised away from his family, Cassius may have made some connections with the underworld. Moreover, he also maintained a business connection with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) who likely does not know that he returned to fight Cullum.

As such, if Cassius joins the international spy organization, he can take advantage of his network and connections for the benefit of his work. He can infiltrate syndicates to gather intel more easily than other agents, because Z may keep his existence a secret.

5 ways Cassius may falter as a WSB agent

1) The ultimate scapegoat

Josslyn has made a deal with Z to get charges against Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) dropped, and both released. In return for this favor, she has agreed to name Cassius as the culprit for the botched WSB case. With that Cassius will end up being the public enemy.

Since Z is likely going to keep him alive secretly and use his services in an undisclosed manner, Cassius will not be absolved of the wrong blame. Since everyone will believe him dead, Z will get the opportunity to use Cassius as a pawn.

2) Spoiled image and shifting loyalties

Cassius is positioned to take the blame for the killings and other operations. This also means that his family and others close to him will also bear the brunt, including Liesl and Nina. Plus, the rest of the town recently learnt that the person they welcomed as Nathan was Cassius in reality. As such, it will be tough for Cassius to fight this bad reputation and clear his name.

Cassius may find himself changing the direction of his loyalties. So far, he showed allegiance with Cullum and Sidwell for the sake of his sister’s medication. However, he changed and battled Cullum. If he works for Z, he may need to shift his commitment again. Also, he trusted Josslyn and looked out for her, but she backstabbed him by agreeing to give a statement against him. He may feel resentment against Josslyn who is also a WSB agent.

3) Clandestine moves raising trust issues

If Cassius feels resentment against Agent Jacks who is an asset to WSB, he may look forward to take her down or avenge her actions. This will likely make him another rogue agent within the organization. That may force Z to curb him or put him down.

Moreover, Cassius has shown his immense ability to trick people, even those close to him. This propensity may drive Z to doubt him and bring forth trust issues. Since Z knows that Cassius hid his leanings from his employers Sidwell and Cullum, the WSB Head will continue to question Cassius’s loyalty.

4) Core moral compass

Despite being raised to help in a clandestine operation, and tricking his own family by stepping into the shoes of his deceased twin, Cassius is not a completely callous character. From loving James, worrying about his mother and sister, and looking out for Josslyn, Cassius’s hard exterior has shown cracks.

With an inherent moral compass of a good person who is not ready to harm others, Cassius may not be hardwired enough to last in a ruthless organization like WSB. His conflicted mind and motives may eventually push him to make drastic mistakes.

5) The dangers of the Faison legacy

Although the caring and good guy, Cassius is unfortunately Faison’s son. Even if he can fight off the legacy like his “golden boy” twin, he stands the danger of facing Faison’s enemies. Since Cassius’s family history may attract much drama, it may leave WSB compromised. Z may consider it safe to cut him loose.
