In a frustrating turn of events, General Hospital's Harrison Chase chose to trust Willow Tait after the explosive story on her crimes reached the public. As soon as he saw the story, he immediately decided it was fake news and proceeded to blame Brook Lynn and her family for the whole thing. They had to have planted it. As Tracy explained, Lulu is a journalist and did her due dilegence before printing the story, but that didn't matter to Chase, as he ran off to help Willow.
5 Things That Explain Chase's Despicable Reaction
1) Hero complex forcing Chase to ignore facts

For the past many months, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) has been rushing to help and support Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) through all her problems. Even though Willow had cheated on him, Chase forgave her long ago. While Willow was herself responsible for most of her recent issues, Chase was firmly convinced that Willow was the victim of situations and someone else was to blame for her misfortune.
GH fans have witnessed Chase risking his career to help Willow when she was charged with shooting Drew. Through Drew's paralysis and later, during Willow's relocation to the Quartermaine property, Chase has been by her side. His need to be Willow's savior has blinded him to facts that are glaring at him.
2) Victimized by Willow's "damsel in distress" act

As mentioned before, Willow cheated on Chase long ago, when he was on his deathbed. However, he forgave her when Willow expressed her contrition. As fans have known for years, Willow has the tendency to portray herself as the innocent victim, a trait that has captured most of the men in her life. Chase happens to be smitten by this aura.
Willow is aware that Chase would love to save her if she presents herself being in trouble and needing his help. She took advantage of this shortcoming when she made him unknowingly frame her former husband, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) for shooting Drew, a crime Willow had committed. However, Chase is again identifying Willow as the victim. As she plays up her sad misfortune before him, he may rescue her again from distress.
3) Blurring the line between a cop and a friend

As a cop, Chase is expected to have reliable instincts about flawed people. However, Detective Chase took a demotion to beat cop, as a result of helping Willow. Despite receiving warnings from ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) and a second chance from Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), Chase has not learned his lesson.
Following the same tendency as in the past few months, Chase is again letting his obsession with Willow cloud his judgment. Instead of having an objective approach to any situation, Chase is once again ready to misuse his police authority, instincts and reach to shield Willow and clear her name. As a disgrace to his father, who believed in truth above all else, Chase is letting his loyalty overrule his duty. Willow will be delighted to have Chase and his access into the PCPD by her side.
4) Fixated on blaming Brook Lynn to hide his foolishness

In a double standard, Chase seems to demand exceptional values and behavior from his wife, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton). As such, he chastised her for trying to frame Willow and feeling insecure about the latter's hold on Chase.
Moreover, he walked out on her and their marriage over Brook Lynn keeping her movements on the Route 91 a secret from him. However, he failed to hold the congresswoman accountable for hiding bigger secrets and committing bigger crimes. On the contrary, he is inclined to believe this is a smear campaign by Brook Lynn against the spotless Willow.
5) Choosing the Quartermaines as the common villains

Chase wanted to know whether Brook Lynn and her family tried to indulge in the mud-slinging. Chase has carried on with his misguided dislike for Michael from the time Willow cheated on him with Michael. Moreover, he mistrusts the family matriarch, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), as he has told BLQ many times.
As such, he now feels that Brook Lynn, Michael, and Tracy are projecting their hatred for Willow and collaborating in defaming the congresswoman. This is making Chase turn his back on his own family, which includes his wife and newly adopted daughter. With her ongoing war with Michael looming large, Willow will be happy to have Chase's support.
