General Hospital’s Britt had planned to escape Port Charles with Jason, but the plan failed amid a series of violent, unexpected events. While WSB arrested Jason on charges of shooting Director Cullum and extradited him, Britt returned to her regular job at the hospital after initial first aid and scans. She faces potentially having no Huntington’s medication to keep her symptoms at bay, and she could once again be forced into working on Faison’s secret project. However, through it all, she will not have Jason by her side. Whether that puts her in a precarious situation or helps her remains to be seen.
Britt’s 5 motives to want Jason in town on General Hospital
1) Britt’s medical crisis needed Jason’s help

As fans know, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) tested positive for the marker test for Huntington’s, and she is afflicted by the disease. Currently, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and other mysterious people are keeping her medical issues in check with experimental drugs in exchange for her work in a secret project started by her late father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).
Britt opened up to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) about this arrangement and her compulsions. Jason offered to have Brick (Stephen A Smith) reverse-engineer her drugs to provide her with medication that is not controlled by the above-mentioned villains. Sadly, with Jason taken away by WSB, Britt has no way to get her medical crisis cleared.
2) Britt needs protection from Ross Cullum

As recent General Hospital episodes showed, Cullum has been chasing Britt to complete the secret project prototype. While Britt explained about her other engagements as a doctor, a daughter, and a friend, Cullum threatened to harm Roccoif she did not comply. Moreover, March 23, 2026, saw Cullum attacking Britt, who was prepared to skip town with Jason and samples of her medication.
With Cullum alive and Jason away, Britt is in a dangerous position. Cullum knows that Britt tried to steal the drugs and flee. As such, he may get ruthless with her after leaving the hospital. In such a situation, only Jason can ensure Britt’s safety.
3) Shared past and common experience factor

The shared past between Britt and Jason goes back many years. The two were romantically involved and stepped back for various personal reasons. Moreover, both are back in Port Charles from the dead, so they know the unique experience of returning after being presumed dead for months and years. Common experiences and thoughts create a special bond between them that goes beyond romance.
With Jason no longer in town to share her feelings, Britt may get lonely. When cornered by Cullum and Sidwell, Britt may have no one to open up to since Obrecht is also out of town, and Nathan may be too busy with work and his new romance with Lulu.
4) Mutual emotional support and trust

For years, Jason Morgan has been the only person (besides Brad) in Port Charles who has seen the woman behind the hard-talking, cynical personality that Britt portrays to the public. While everyone else loves to hate her, Jason knows the broken yet kind-hearted person inside her. As such, they have an emotional connection that Britt can share with no other Port Charles resident.
With Jason out of town for an indefinite period, Britt may feel emotionally drained due to a lack of support. Moreover, Jason is one of the very few people Britt trusts with her vulnerabilities. Now, she will likely feel bottled up.
5) Unfulfilled slow burn love

Longtime General Hospital fans celebrated the romance between Jason and Britt, which was cut short in 2021 when the henchman felt compelled to wed Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) to help protect Sonny’s business. This was followed by their individual tragedies, leading to their absences from the show. Britt’s recent return brought their chemistry back on track.
Fans believe that this romance, which faced so many interruptions, must have a happy ending. Since their very long romance gives a slow-burning effect, it may create the foundation for a truer relationship. Moreover, fans have noticed that Jason and Britt work well together.
General Hospital: 5 reasons Britt can survive Jason’s absence
1) Opportunity to focus on her career

Britt is a skilled doctor and has the ability to excel in her career. However, she keeps getting into scrapes, and Jason keeps walking in to rescue her. Her involvement with Jason leaves her distracted and often at odds with townspeople, including Carly and Josslyn.
With Jason out of town, Britt does not need to worry about his safety or be influenced by his underworld activities. Even if she completes her task with Cullum and Sidwell, she can continue her good work at the hospital and live in peace. Also, Britt does not need to interact with people like Carly or Sonny if she chooses not to.
2) Chance of a non-criminal romance

For years, Britt’s serious romantic relationships have involved men connected to the crime world, from Julian and Nikolas to Jason. While she may be naturally drawn to men who have the grit to face danger and crime, her involvement with Jason will keep the doctor connected to the criminal world.
In Jason's absence, Britt may have the opportunity to romance other young men in Port Charles. If she associates with men who have no connection to the mob world, it may be a new experience for her. Britt could be free to pursue stable and healthier relationships.
3) Freedom from constant danger and surveillance

While a protective figure to his loved ones, Jason inadvertently puts others in the line of fire in the mob world. His association with the Corinthos family and his work as a hitman put everyone connected to him in danger. As such, Britt would need to live in fear of oncoming danger if she hooked up with Jason.
Moreover, Jason tends to treat Britt like a damsel in distress. With Jason’s temporary exit, Britt can heave a sigh of relief as she becomes free of constant surveillance from his enemies.
4) Escape from the cycle of romantic indecision

Jason’s commitments have hurt Britt in the past. As mentioned before, Jason chose to save the Corinthos mob business and married Carly, undermining Britt’s emotional needs. This has been a bone of contention between the two. Moreover, Carly still exercises her rights over Jason, a habit that irks Britt.
Britt knows Jason will always choose Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and even the Quartermaine family over his own romances and needs. As such, Britt will always remain at a lower priority ranking for Jason. With Jason away, Britt may escape this cycle and start afresh with no injury to her self-esteem.
5) Reclaiming her independence and morals

Since first arriving in Port Charles, Britt has portrayed herself as an independent and strong woman. She is a great doctor and a researcher. Cullum’s team zeroed in on her since, as a brilliant scientist and the daughter of Faison, she was best suited to build Faison’s prototype. Britt’s talent can hold its own in town, and she does not need Jason’s caring. Moreover, she suffers from a serious health issue that may need her focus.
Without Jason hovering around, Britt will be forced to take care of herself. With no one to rescue her, she may reclaim her old personality and start taking proactive steps to protect her own safety. Moreover, she need not bend her morals to suit Jason; she should stay true to herself.
