General Hospital's Drew Cain is out of his paralytic state and is back to wreaking havoc around town. This time, he's roped in Ava Jerome as his ally, who already holds a vendetta against Sonny Corinthos. Promising to take Sonny down together, Drew has dangled the carrot of Ava gaining complete custody of Avery to get her to do his dirty work.

But first, he needed to make sure that Jack Brennan couldn't bring him down and enlisted Ava to drug Jack to Drew could steal the evidence the WSB agent had against him.

Sadly, after some time, they discovered Jack dead in the pool. Fearing that they might get caught, Drew and Ava secretly buried the dead body by the Quartermaine crypt. As they discussed their future prospects and options, Ava threatened to take Drew down if she gets caught, in a clear indication of being equals in the criminal partnership.

5 Ways That Drew and Ava Make Ideal Criminal Associates on General Hospital

1) Common enemy in Sonny

Even when dealing with Crimson, she resorted to trading corporate secrets, blackmail or financial payouts to secure her position.

As mentioned before, both Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) have a common goal, taking down Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). While Drew has been unsuccessfully targeting Sonny since his days in politics, Ava has a long-standing custody battle going on with Sonny over Avery.

As they collaborate, both Ava and Drew hope to gain much by Sonny’s defeat. On one hand, Ava is hoping to gain complete custody of Avery, while on the other, Drew dreams of holding much power over the town.

2) Fearless street smartness with corporate strategy

Both Drew and Ava have been cunning Port Charles power players in the past. Ava runs an art gallery after being a mob boss for a time, while Drew was a corporate raider and congressman. Drew was also seen as aggressive corporate personnel who tried to wrest control of ELQ. Besides a knack for business strategy, both the collaborators think on their feet, as was evident from their response at finding Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) dead.

3) Ready for high-stakes criminal liability

Neither Ava nor Drew hold back when it comes to any criminal maneuvers. Ava is known to have been a schemer, blackmailer, and a murderer in the past. Meanwhile, the decorated Navy SEAL turned into a cutthroat politician and resorted to misappropriation of public funds, secret intel exchange, and blackmail to target his enemies.

Currently, both have collaborated in drugging an international agent. While their role in Jack’s death is as yet unknown, they proceeded to bury the body secretly, planting themselves in the center of the fiasco. Together they have indulged in illegal burial of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

4) Shared single-parent struggles

While on the outside, Ava and Drew seem to be smooth operators, as single parents, both are burdened with messy parenting choices, burden of fallouts and grief of losing a child. Longtime General Hospital fans may remember that Ava lost Kiki (Hayley Erin) to a brutal murder while Drew lost his son to terminal cancer.

Currently, Ava is fighting a long-drawn battle with Sonny over the custody of her daughter Avery. Ava is struggling with Sonny undermining her before Avery, while Drew is struggling with his parenting choices in keeping Scout away from her extended family. With powerful Corinthos and the Quartermaine families to challenge their authorities, Ava and Drew likely bond as victim single-parents.

5) Chemistry revolving around dark humor

Interestintly enough, the duo has delivered a morbid comic relief. They were seen involved in a banter that broke the solemnity of the situation at hand. They blended evidence tampering with panic-ridden arguments about who wore gloves when they dragged Jack’s dead body in a laundry basket to be buried secretly.

In another scene, when the two collaborators lowered Jack’s dead body into the hole they had dug, they said a grave prayer for the departed soul and even maintained a moment of silence in his honor. Immediately after, they loudly bid Jack goodbye and called for filling the hole right away. This bizarre contradictory behavior led to a hilarious effect on-screen.
