5 Reasons General Hospital’s Jason and Britt Are Better Off Apart

General Hospital fans who were heartbroken with Jason Morgan's sudden alleged presumed death in the 2021 tunnel collapse, followed by Britt Westbourne's alleged death by The Hook Killer in 2023, were overjoyed with their eventual returns. Fans waiting for an ultimate romantic pairing between the two were again left disillusioned as the lovers broke up recently, after a promising reunion last year.

Jason saved Britt when Anna had a mental break and tried to kill her, but he showed empathy towards Anna's mental state and refused to back Britt if she complained to the PCPD. While Jason questioned Britt's stance in letting Anna remain hostage at Wyndemere, Britt was shocked to see that Jason did not trust her. As such, they decided to part ways.

5 Arguments that Justify Jason and Britt's separation on General Hospital

Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) rushed to save Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) as Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) pointed her gun at the clueless victim. Jason talked Anna down, asked Britt to flee the spot and took a grieving Anna home. However, when Britt wanted to file an official complaint against Anna, Jason refused to back her.

Later, Jason refused to believe that Britt really planned to help Anna when she learned she was being held captive in Wyndemere. He went on to tell Anna and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) that he didn't trust Britt. At the same time, Britt was shocked to realize this. A lack of trust in a relationship spells disaster.

As mentioned before, Jason saved Britt on Mount Emerson but maintained that Anna would not have killed her either way. This did not go down well with Britt, who was staring at a gun in her face. Britt believed that as a mentally unstable person, Anna was a danger to society and must be locked up. From her perspective, she was justified in her stance.

However, Jason's insistence that Anna would never have shot Britt, even if he hadn't shown up, made little sense to Britt. Jason questioned Britt's selfish tendency to save herself over others' needs. As General Hospital fans already know, Britt has a self-preservation streak that outweighs anything else, while Jason would sacrifice for his friends and loyalties over his personal interest. Since the two lovers are at opposite ends of the moral spectrum when choosing their stance in society, their togetherness would not succeed.

Jason has already questioned Britt about her inaction despite knowing that Anna was being held a hostage at Wyndemere. However, he did not accept Britt's response that she going to help Anna, but had not figured out how yet. He preferred to trust a mentally broken Anna more than Britt, who he himself saw facing death.

However, by Jason's own words to Carly, he would have believed her if she said the same things that Britt said. Essentially, this points at Jason's double standards when he would trust Carly for the same things that he would distrust Britt for. This inexplicable lack of trust might be baffling for Jason, Carly and Anna, while it would be insulting for Britt.

4) Jason needs to live up to his values and priorities

Jason has no faith in Britt's integrity and will continue to question her credibility in every situation. As General Hospital viewers heard him declare to Anna, love would not be enough to keep them together as a couple.

At the same time, Jason is restarting his life away from the mob. He may need the support of his friends who have known him for years. As such, he would like to hold on to his loyalty towards Carly, Anna and his former boss, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Unlike Britt, they do not demand much from him, while he has complete confidence in them.

Jason has already declared that he cannot trust Britt and love is not enough to keep them in a relationship and this stance has hurt Britt immensely. She unburdened herself in front of Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson), who understood her position. He said that Britt is better off without the person who could not take her for her word.

Unlike Isaiah's straightforward validation, Jason's judging made Britt feel insecure. After months of vying for Jason's faith in her, Britt has walked away, feeling she deserves a better partner. She may find more acceptance, value and respect in her interactions with her colleagues, Isaiah and Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer).
