In a violent turn of events recently on General Hospital, Rocco spied on Britt at the piers and witnessed Director Cullum smashing her medication and attacking her. On the teenager's watch, Jason arrived and had a scuffle with Cullum. As Cullum tried to clobber Jason, Rocco picked up Cullum’s gun and shot the WSB director in the back.

Nathan arrived at the spot and took Rocco home on Jason's instructions. While Jason took the fall for the crime and was extradited by WSB, Cullum was operated upon and saved at the hospital. Both Nathan and Rocco's mother asked him to stay quiet, leaving the teenager in a dilemma.

5 ways Rocco’s confession is significant on General Hospital

1) Saving Jason from conviction and prison time

Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) knows that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) took the fall for his crime. He was ushered away from the crime location by Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) just as Jason grabbed the gun that Rocco had dropped after shooting Director Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). He knows Danny’s father is innocent and is being charged for a crime he did not commit.

If Rocco comes clean about his role in the Pier 55 incident, he can save Jason from being wrongly accused. Moreover, having been a henchman for Sonny for years, Jason has been a target of law enforcement. He may be lodged in Steinmauer for a long time if Rocco does not reveal the truth.

2) Avoiding a post-probation crime and long-term trauma

As with most crimes in Port Charles, Rocco’s crime will eventually be revealed. Since Rocco has recently completed his community service and is currently on probation, he may be under the radar. Hiding facts about a shootout while on probation will draw a stringent punishment compared to coming clean about his involvement.

Moreover, trying to bottle up the event may have long-term psychological trauma for Rocco. This could cause serious mental health problems in the future. However, if Rocco opens up and accepts punishment, he may avoid long-lasting trauma.

3) Presenting true story of defense and fear angles

Rocco’s confession will likely help the authorities solve multiple crimes. His words may give clarity about the situation that led to Britt’s head injury and Jason’s arrival. That would drive PCPD to investigate Cullum’s involvement in Port Charles and to look into Sidwell.

Moreover, the connection between Cullum and Marco could come out, bringing justice for the departed soul. Rocco may state what condition of fear and self-defense prompted him to take up the weapon.

4) Preserving Dante’s professional position and image

Since Rocco’s role in the crime will likely come out at a later date, his father, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), is at stake. Dante’s position will be questioned even when the commissioner is blindsided by his family.

To save his father from a future of blame and disgrace, Rocco should come clean at the earliest possible moment. Even if Dante does not charge his own son, he must have the complete and true picture before he can take a call on a crime in his jurisdiction.

5) Repairing the father-son bond and stopping blame game

As General Hospital fans know, Rocco and Dante’s rapport has gotten shaky recently. Since Sam’s death, Dante has arguably been too hard on his sons. If he learns the truth from some other source, the commissioner will be mighty displeased with Rocco.

To add to the problem, he may later learn that Lulu, Jason, and even his subordinate, Nathan, were privy to the secret. This could permanently fracture the father-son bond. Moreover, Dante tends to blame his elder son, Gio (Giovanni Mazza), for influencing Rocco. If Rocco reveals the situation that led to his crime, Dante can stop blaming Gio for everything.

General Hospital: 5 reasons Rocco may remain silent

1) Protecting himself after the trauma

As expected, the violent events have left Rocco shaken. He is numb with fear, trauma, and worry. While his response to seeing Jason clobbered by Cullum was hasty, he realized the immense impact of shooting Cullum later. This was evident in Rocco’s query about Cullum’s condition and breaking down before his mother.

However, Rocco may remain quiet to save himself. Since Jason has already taken the blame for shooting Cullum, Rocco might want to protect himself from the event. That way, he can avoid facing the music for his big action and its consequences.

2) Keeping Lulu’s plea

As General Hospital fans know, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) forced Rocco to open up about the incident and come clean. Later, she pleaded with him to remain tight-lipped about it. Lulu assured her son that she would handle the situation if something came up.

In his muddled condition, Rocco is likely to obey his mother’s orders and stay put. He may go along with the pretension of being at home with Lulu on the fatal night.

3) Avoiding Dante’s strong reaction

As mentioned before, Rocco has an uncomfortable relationship with his father, a clean cop who always believes he is morally right. As such, Rocco knows his father will not tolerate a crime committed by him. Since the involved parties are all significant members of the society and Dante holds an important position in the jurisdiction, he may flip out at the news of Rocco shooting Cullum.

Fearing his father’s reaction is one of the reasons why Rocco may avoid coming clean to him. After his recent brush with crime and punishment, Rocco will be unwilling to rake up more chastising from Dante.

4) Following Nathan and Jason’s orders

In a reiteration of previously mentioned arguments, both Jason and Nathan actively tried to save Rocco from being picked up for shooting Cullum. As Nathan informed Jason about the incoming PCPD force, Jason instructed the detective to take Rocco home immediately. Moreover, Jason picked up the gun Rocco had dropped and planted his fingerprints on it.

These acts of care and kindness will likely impress upon Rocco that there are adults who would go down to save him. Moreover, Nathan specifically asked Rocco to keep the incident secret from his father. As an honor to Nathan’s orders and Jason’s sacrifice, Rocco may stay mum about his involvement in Cullum’s shooting.

5) Fear of shaking up status quo with family and friends

As General Hospital viewers know, Rocco recently learnt various truths about his family structure and his birth. He discovered that Gio was his paternal half-sibling, while Britt was the woman who gave birth to him. With his family being held by shreds of trust, Rocco will try his best not to disturb the family balance with any new shock.

Moreover, if Rocco opens up about the crime, his friend Danny will know that Jason was taken in for Rocco’s crime. This will ruin their camaraderie and cause a rift between the brothers. At this point, Rocco will do everything to save his relationships.
