5 Reasons General Hospital’s Sidwell and Curtis Are Better Off as Allies Than Enemies

The General Hospital crime world got a shock this summer when international criminal Jenz Sidwell took a plea deal and was sentenced to 31 years in Pentonville prison. Sonny is now trying to get a hold of Sidwell's legal assets to promote himself in the corporate world.

Elsewhere, corporate executive and former cop Curtis Ashford was sentenced to 10 years beind bars for assault. Since both Curtis an Sidwell are well known names who could be in danger in prison, the warden put them in a special cell together where they are bound to become BFFs...and form an alliance that can have lasting effecs.

5 Ways Curtis and Sidwell Can Help One Another

General Hospital fans know, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) has received the harsh sentence of ten years in Pentonville with parole after two years. That means he has to survive the violent and ruthless world inside the high-security prison. Being a former cop, he may have many enemies who he had helped put inside. That leaves Curtis in a real danger of being physically assaulted and hurt.

As an international crime lord, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), has leverage over hardcore criminals. He may come to Curtis’s rescue and earn a favor. If Curtis finds himself in peril, he may consider it safe to take up Sidwell’s offer of protection. In exchange, there may be a deal to return the favor sometime later.

While in the prison, Curtis will likely have visitors. Although his daughter, Trina (Tabyana Ali), has promised to visit him often, he may also have his girlfriend, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), dropping by sometimes. As they exchange notes, he may learn about Aurora Media’s functioning. Also, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and others may come to visit him at times.

Curtis may agree to share all intel he receives from his visitors with Sidwell in exchange for in-prison protection. Sidwell may ask him to acquire specific intel on his enemies and Curtis may frame his queries judiciously to get the required information for Sidwell.

3) Leverage for parole and asset management

Since Curtis is allowed a parole after two years, Sidwell may have a long-term plan. Instead of framing Curtis or getting him attacked by his people, Sidwell may make Curtis an ally by helping him navigate the environment inside the premises. An obligated Curtis may promise to do Sidwell’s bidding when he gets his parole.

When Curtis gets out on parole, he may work as Sidwell’s agent in Port Charles. Moreover, if Sidwell uses his network to expedite Curtis’s parole, the latter may work as a tool for Sidwell, as he operates from inside the prison walls.

On the outside, Curtis and Sidwell are on opposite ends of the law. While Sidwell is a ruthless crime lord, and cold-blooded killer, Curtis is a semi-legitimate business (dealings with Selina Wu aside). Moreover, Curtis is a cop-turned-businessman who has experience in turning businesses around and understands the importance of good PR.

On the other hand, Sidwell’s skill set includes structural powers, calculated strategy and ruthless execution. When these qualities add to Curtis’s legal knowledge and investigative prowess, it may make a lethal combination of brain and brawn. Their alliance may stand strong against the power struggles in Port Charles.

5) Neutralizing common corporate enemies

The power balance is slated to shift in Port Charles. With Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) exiting the mob and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) challenging him, a power struggle is looming in the town. Since, the players are ready to fight over Sidwell’s assets, which are up for auction, the mobster may want to control this situation from inside the prison.

While Sidwell wants to see Sonny go down, he also dislikes Drew. With both men ready to take over Sidwell's assets, Sidwell may want to employ Curtis's corporate expertise to save his businesses. If Curtis feels that Drew is helping Jordan take over Aurora’s controls from him permanently, Curtis may respond accordingly. Whichever enemy they choose to fight, the two inmates may band together to take down PC power players.
